Marion E. Rabidue
"Marlette - Marion E. Rabidue, 91, a retired Marlette teacher, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron. She was born May 29, 1908, in Lapeer, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ethel (Marsh) Higley. She graduated from Detroit Northwestern High School in 1926. She earned a life teaching certificate and bachelor of arts degree from Wayne State University. She taught for 34 years in the Detroit Public Schools and at Marlette Elementary School. She married William R. Rabidue Aug. 7, 1930, in Lapeer. He passed away July 24, 1975. Mrs. Rabidue was dedicated to her church. She helped on programs and mission study groups, always wanting to teach. After retiring, she traveled to many foreign countries and all 50 states, returning home a United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel Bowman and Rev. John Allan officiating. Interment will be in the Siple Cemetery, Koylton Township. Visitation will be at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette front 4 to 7 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers will be Rex Binder, Ben Moore, Lloyd Rabidue, Robert Ellis, James Brydon, Robert C. Phillips and David Rabidue. Memorials may given to the Jean Patrick Memorial Student Loan Fund."

Edward Frederick Radatz
"Columbus, Ohio - Edward Frederick Radatz, 56, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Port Huron and Marysville, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, in his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Port Huron and was a member of Marysville High School Class of 1961. Mr. Radatz was a computer programmer with the U.S. Government prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was a lifetime member of Reynoldsburg Post #9479 V.F.W. and a member of Bexley Post #430 American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; a son, Michael Radatz of Columbus; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Clough of Lexington, Mich; a brother, Ron Radatz of St. Clair; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ethel Radatz. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald R. Doerzbacher of Our Saviour Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot Twp. Pallbearers will be Martin, Jim, Joel and Rick Radatz and Terry and Lonnie Baker."

Ella J. Radike
"St. Clair, Dec. 18 - Mrs. Ella J. Radike, 73, wife of Robert A. Radike, died Wednesday in her home at 5533 Belle River road, China Township, after a long illness. Mrs. Radike, who lived in the home where she died for 47 years, was born in Marine City Nov. 12, 1879, daughter of the late Herrick and Florence Bushnell. She is survived by her husband and several nieces and nephews. Remains are in the T. R. Bower funeral home, St. Clair, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Frank Hartley, minister of First Methodist church, St. Clair, will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery."

Henry K. Radike
"Henry K. Radike, 88, a farmer in the Radike mills community, died Monday in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron. He resided at 4379 Indian Trail road. He was born July 24, 1867 in China township, and lived in the township all his life. He was a conservation officer in St. Clair county for 15 years. Mr. Radike also was a member of the First Methodist church of St. Clair; and the Rock of Ages club of the church. Mr. Radkie's wife, May McMullen Radike, died about six years ago. He is survived by two sons, Lester Radike, China township, and Russell Radike, St. Clair; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the T. R. Bower funeral home. Rev. Clyde Wheeland, Atica, officiated. Burial was in Balfour cemetery, Belle River road."

May Radike
"Mrs. Henry Radike died Thursday November 11, at her home on the Indian Trail Road, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Radike who was May Tripp before her marriage was born June 6, 1873 in China township, and lived most of her life in St. Clair County. She attended the St. Clair schools and was a member of the class of 1891 St. Clair High school. She was married to Mr. Radike in 1892. Mrs. Radike was a life-long member of the First Methodist church, St. Clair, the Ladies Aid of the Salem Methodist church on the Meisner road, and of the Rock of Ages Club. Mrs. Radike is survived by her husband , two sons, Russell of St. Clair and Lester of Port Huron, a brother, Rev. George Tripp of Flint, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the T.R. Bower funeral home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Everitt Smith of Marine City in charge of the services. Burial was in the Balfour cemetery on the Lindsay road."

Wesley J. Radike
"St. Clair, Jan. 1 — Wesley J. Radike, 69, of 4516 Indian Trail road, operator of a general grocery store in Belle River Mills the last 22 years, died Friday in the Olsen Convalescent Home, Port Huron, after a long illness. Mr. Radike was born Jan. 16, 1885, in Belle River Mills, son of the late Richard and Kate Emig Radike. He worked for many years as a hardware and machinery salesman for a Chicago and Detroit firm. Mr. Radike was a lifetime member of the First Methodist church. He is survived by his widow, the former Loretta Weinacht; a brother, George Radike, Belle River Mills, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Bollmer, Los Angeles, Calif. Remains are in the L. C. Friederichs & Son funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Rev. Frank Hartley, pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery."

Frederick O. Radtke
"Port Huron - Frederick Otto Radtke, 77, of Port Huron died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Port Huron. He was born July 12, 1922, in Port Huron. He married June E. Sullivan on Aug. 27, 1946, in Port Huron. She died July 29, 1993. Mr. Radtke worked for Sears for many years. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and Treasurer of the church for over 30 years. He was a member of Charles A. Hammond Post #8 American Legion and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #158. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lori Radtke; his daughter and son-in-law, Martha Radtke and Michael Kavanaugh; his grandsons, Jason Radtke, Jeremy Radtke and Kevin Radtke; his granddaughter, Jacqueline Zimmer; four great-grandchildren; his brother, David Radtke; and three sisters, Dolores Martin, Dorothy Pleger and Carolyn (Richard) Hammer. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Radtke. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Saviour Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald R. Doerzbacher of Our Saviour Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Burial services will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Visiting hours are 1 to 4 p.m. today in Arthur Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge #158 and Charles A. Hammond Post #8 American Legion."

Pamela Ann Petty Ragoo
"Port Huron - Pamela Ann Petty Ragoo died on Jan. 9, 2000, in Oshawa General Hospital. She had been a resident of Whitby, Ontario for 18 years. Pam was born on Feb. 21, 1954, in Port Huron, the daughter of Lula Pearl Petty and James C. Petty. Pam graduated from Port Huron High School in 1972. She also attended St. Clair County Community College and Oshawa Community College. Pam had been employed with the Oshawa General Hospital for 10 years. Pam leaves to mourn a loving and devoted husband, George; three children, Shawn, Jason and Heidi, all of Whitby, Ontario; one brother, Michael Petty; two sisters, Michelle Bowne and Judy Moore of Port Huron; her grandmother, Hattie Dunlap of Port Huron; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends representing Port Huron and Ontario. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Edna Petty. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Jan. 13, 2000, at the Oshawa Funeral Service, Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Becker of Faith Lutheran Church, Oshawa, officiated. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Ragoo family."

Mrs. Samuel Ramsay
"Mrs. Samuel Ramsay, aged 78 years, a former resident of Kenockee township, died at her home at 167 Smith avenue, in Detroit, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Ramsay is well known in St. Clair county, having resided in Kenockee for many years. The remains will arrive here Tuesday morning and will be taken to Ruby by Undertaker George Thompson. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Ruby M. E. church. The deceased was a widow and is survived by several grown up children."

"Mrs. Wm. Ramsey Dies After Illness - Mrs. Jessie M. Ramsey, 83, widow of the late William Ramsey, died early today in the home of her son, Clarence Ramsey, 1055 Sturdevant road, after a long illness. Mrs. Ramsey was born in Riley Center, March 31, 1868. She was lifelong resident of St. Clair County. She is survived by four sons, Harry Ramsey, Memphis, Earl Ramsey, Camlachie, Ont., Clarence Ramsey, Smiths Creek, and Milton Ramsey, Detroit; 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Gregg, Smiths Creek, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Buckindail, Port Huron. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The remains are in the Arthur Smith funeral home."

"Died. - At Columbus, St. Clair Co., on the 8th inst. Rhea Randall
"Winter Park, Fla. - Rhea Bound Scott Randall, 92, of Winter Park, Florida, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 26, 1905 in Vanderbilt, MI. and moved to Winter Park in 1997 from Vero Beach, Fla. Mrs. Randall was a former elementary school teacher, having taught in Saginaw, MI. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, formerly known as Mid State Normal College in Ypsilanti, MI. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak, MI. Mrs. Randall was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society, Vero Beach. Surviving are her husband of 14 years, Robert D. Randall of Winter Park; three nieces, Ann Wottring of Oviedo, Fla., Barbara Scott of Indianapolis, Ind. and Betty Jane Minor of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one nephew, Scott Bound of Ypsilanti; and one sister-in-law, Kay Randall of Johns Island, Fla. Interment will be held at the Johns Island Cemetery in Vero Beach at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, 120 Wall St. New York, New York, 10005-4001, in Mrs. Randall's memory."

Pauline E. Rands
"Port Huron - Pauline E. Rands, 79, of Port Huron died unexpectedly Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Port Huron Hospital. She was born Oct. 24, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo. She married Robert Rands on March 23, 1996, in Warrenton, Mo. Mrs. Rands attended Ross Bible Church and enjoyed sewing and making crafts. She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Allen (Georgia) Schroeder of Stuart, Fla.; three grandsons, Russell Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Travis (Lyn) Schroeder and Darren Schroeder; seven stepchildren; and many step-grandchildren; a niece, Sharon Boemer; and several cousins in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2000, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Newman of Ross Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ross Bible Church."

Mrs. Otis Rankin
"The funeral services in connection with the death of Mrs. Otis Rankin were held on Sunday afternoon last. At two o'clock a large number of the friends of the deceased assembled at her late residence on Fourth street, where a brief service was conducted by Rev. Rolph Duff and Rev. Dr. McEldowney. A long procession followed the remains to the place of burial in the East China cemetery. Mrs. Rankin was well known in St. Clair, Marine City and all the surrounding country, for she had lived in this vicinity upwards of sixty years. Born in Providence, R. I., in 1810, she was thus in her 88th year when she died. She came of a long-lived race. Her mother was within a few months of 90 years of age at her death; and Mrs. Rankin herself was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of six-all of whom reached a good old age. In 1836 she married Otis Rankin and they immediately moved to this state and settled near Marine City. Three children were born to them, Chester who died in 1875, Henry of this city and Mrs. L. Slyfield of Port Huron. Mr. Rankin died in 1879. Mrs. Rankin was a woman of strong and self-reliant nature, somewhat eccentric, but kindly in her disposition and impulses, a good neighbor, a warm friend and respected by all who knew her. She will be long remembered by a large circle of friends. She was a member of the Universalist church and a staunch upholder of the Universalist faity."

Richard H. Rasmussen
"Port Huron - Richard H. Rasmussen, 77, of 2415 12th St., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1979, in Marwood Manor after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 27, 1902, in Denmark, and lived in Port Huron 55 years. His wife, the former Hazel Duncan, died June 24, 1973. Mr. Rasmussen was a bus driver for the Salvation Army. He was a retired truck driver for Yellow Transit. He is survived by a brother, Vigo, Denmark, and a sister, Ingerborg Emig, Lemon Grove, Calif. Funeral arrangements by Arthur Smith Funeral Home, South Chapel, are incomplete."

Theressa Rattenberg
"Mrs. Theressa Rattenberg, daughter of Andrew Hartman, and sister of Charles and John Hartman, aged 37 years, died in Detroit Sunday morning, of typhoid pneumonia. She leaves a husband and three children, 2 girls aged 6 and 7, and a boy four years old to mourn her loss. Mrs. Rattenberg was well known and highly esteemed as a young lady in St. Clair. Her funeral was held at the church of the Holy redeemer at 6:30 Tuesday morning."

Barbara J. Rattew
"St. Clair - Barbara J. Rattew, age 73, of St. Clair died Saturday, July 15, 2000. She was born April 20, 1927, in Detroit. She married Edward J. Rattew on Nov. 15, 1947, in Rochester. He died July 10, 1984. Barbara lived in Capac from 1964 until 1985 and has lived in St. Clair since 1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Clair, and played the piano and was an avid reader. She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Almeron) Glover of Brown City, Janice (Robert) Miller of Lapeer and Joan Rattew of St. Clair; three sons, Ronald (Laurie) of Port Huron, Steve (Bonnie) of Marlette and Charles (Ilene) of LaGrange, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Smith of Oscoda. She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Rattew in 1985 and Dennis Glover in 1971. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2000, in the L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Larry Shwark officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society."

James F. Raymond
"Lambs - James F. Raymond, 80, of 9630 Lambs Road, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron, after a short illness. He was born Nov. 2, 1896, in Wales township, where he was a lifelong resident. He married Sarah J. Green March 18, 1918, in Port Huron. Mr. Raymond farmed in Wales Township for 27 years. He then owned and operated a general store and gasoline station in Lambs for 44 years, retiring in 1972. He was a life member of Smiths Creek Lodge 491, F & AM. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Shirley McColl, Goodells; two sons, Celdon F. Raymond, St. Clair, and Harry A. Raymond, Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel L. Fisher and Mrs. Carleton E. Robinson, both of Port Huron; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Remains are in the Hubert V. Lucas funeral Home, Port Huron, where services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. William R. Burns, of the Westhaven Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Craig and James Raymond, Arnold Jackson, Calvin McNeil, Anthony Senkow and Edward King will be pallbearers. Lodge 491 will conduct Masonic cervices at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home."

Margaret Reagan
"Mrs. Margaret Reagan, whose death occurred at Detroit, August 4th, was brought to St. Clair, last week Monday, for burial. Heart trouble and dropsy caused death. She was 59 years of age, having been born in Houth, Ireland. Forty years ago she moved to this city and lived here until 1888, when she moved to Detroit. In 1863 she was united in marriage to Cornelius Reagan, and to them seven children were born. The death of Mr. Regan occurred in February 1879. Five children survive Mrs. Reagan. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Robert Akred, Mrs. Patrick Murphy, Mrs. Mary Murphy, of this city, who with the surviving children wish to express their gratitude for kindnesses shown at the time of the burial of Mrs. Regan."

Margaret Reagin
"Clanton, Ala. - Margaret (Pfeil) Reagin, 89, of Clanton, Ala., found eternal rest and peace, Friday, Jan. 7, 2000. She was born July 31, 1911 in Allenton, MI. She was a long time resident of Mt. Clemens and later moved to Alabama with her husband, Elmer Reagin. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and a very wonderful babysitter. She was a member of Womens F.O.E. Auxiliary 1269 in Mt. Clemens, and volunteered for the nursery at her church. She leaves a legacy of love, caring and kindness. Surviving are her children, Diane and Bob Rose of Arizona, Martin and Audrey Reagin of Yale, Donald Reagin of Saginaw, Joyce E. Land of Alabama, Betty White of Iowa; brother, Andy and Norma Pfeil of St. Clair; sister, Betty Schaff of Warren. Margaret left a loving legacy of 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends, plus an extended family of friends in Alabama. Preceding her in death are husband Elmer, sons, Harvey and Richard; sisters, Pauline, Kate and Emma; brothers, John, Carl and Johnny. Memorial services are at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Mt. Clemens, MI. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 at 11 a.m. Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Church, 3 10 N. Main, Yale, MI. 48097."

Bernard J. Rechmann
"Richmond, Jan. 1 — Bernard J. Rechmann, 88, well known Columbus Township farmer, died Friday night in the Hewitt Nursing Home, Port Huron, after a long illness. He had been in the nursing home three years. Mr. Rechmann was born in Germany, Aug. 18, 1866 and came here when he was about two years old. His wife, Mrs. Louise Rechmann, died Nov. 14, 1949. A son, Roy Reachmann, died in 1938. He is survived by two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hensch funeral home. Rev. John Keller, pastor of the Adair Evangelical and Reformed church, will officiate. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery. The remains are in the funeral home."

"Smiths Creek - Henry W. Redfield, 73, of Smiths Creek died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Evangelical Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 12, 1926, in St. Clair to the late William and Maude Redfield. He married Marjorie Biscorner on Dec. 3, 1948, in St. Clair. Mr. Redfield was employed in Huron Manufacturing Inc., formerly Port Huron Equipment, for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabee's during WWII and was a member of D.A.V. Chapter #12. Henry played slow-pitch softball and coached city recreational basketbal and softball for 20 years. He also was a goal judge for high school hockey. He enjoyed hunting and the out of doors. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; four sons, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Patti) Redfield of Red Springs, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. James (Shirley) Redfield of Smiths Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Stacey) Redfield of Marysville and Mr. and Mrs. David (Lisa) Redfield of Jeddo; two daughters, Susan Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Sandra) Jacobson, all of Port Huron; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Eric, Scott, Keith, Kyle, Trevor, Melissa, Rachel and Nicholas; a twin brother, Mr. and Mrs. George (Virginia) Redfield of Smiths Creek; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Irving, and a son-in-law, Rick Thomas. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Private family committal services will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township."

"Port Huron - John J. Reese Sr., 79, of 2238 North Allen Road, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital. He was born May 12, 1893, in Port Austin, but lived most of his life in Port Huron. He attended Port Austin schools, and was a retired fisherman and construction worker. He married Meta A. Bauer on Nov. 30, 1946, at Detroit. He is survived by his widow; three sons, John J. Reese Jr. and Edward A. Reese, both of Port Huron, and Glenn A. Reese, North Highlands, Calif.; six daughters, Mrs. Virginia W. Dougan, Mrs. Doris M. Mohr, Mrs. Gloria M. Fountaine and Mrs. Beverly J. Haynes, all of Port Huron, Mrs. Phyllis I, Horsey, Tocohoe, N. J., and Mrs. Genevieve M. Jones, of Texas; two stepsons, Leroy S. Bauer and Donald E. Bauer, both of Port Huron; 35 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and six step grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Cezinski, Imlay City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Karer-Simpson Funeral Home, with Rev. Hubert L. Sunderman, pastor of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church, officiating. "Kimball Township — August C. Regling, 81, died Thursday, May 21, 1992, in his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1911, in Smiths Creek. He married Mary Fish Nov. 19, 1955, in Port Huron. She died Oct. 16, 1991. Mr. Regling was a lifelong self-employed farmer. He graduated from Memphis High in 1929 and from Port Huron Junior College. He was a member of the Smiths Creek Lodge 491, F&AM; the Smiths Creek Community Church and the Michigan Farm Bureau. He was a lifelong resident of Smiths Creek and was a very avid sports fan. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Stephen Nyeste; sister, Mary L. Regling; two sisters-in-law, Laura and Gladys Regling, and several nieces and nephews. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Arthur Smith funeral Home-South chapel. The Rev. Lars Hasper of Smiths Creek Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery. "Smiths Creek - William J. Regling, 71, of 7306 Sparling road, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1909, in Smiths Creek and was a life-long area resident. He was a well-known local farmer. Mr. Regling was a member of Smiths Creek Lodge 491 F. & A. M. and Mount Vernon Chapter 61 O. E. S.. He married Helen Fish Oct. 19, 1955, in Port Huron. He is survived by his wife; three brothers, Edward O., of East Detroit, Roy, of Lake Alfred, Fla., and August C., of Smiths Creek; and five sisters, Hazel, Mabel and Mary Reglin, all of Flint, Mrs. Richard (Gladys) Wrixom, of Farmington, and Mrs. Stephen (Shirley) Nyeste, of Port Huron. He married Cleone W. Walker on Sept. 16, 1933, in Crown Pointe, Ind. She died June 4, 1990. Mr. Reid was employed by L.T.V. Steel Company. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lexington. He is survived by his son, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Maryjean) Reid of Lexington; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Nita) Reid of Florida; two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew (Gladys) Matson of Indiana and Beatrice Esola of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home in Port Huron. "Port Huron - Daniel P. Reinking, 20, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Gaithersburg, Md. Daniel was born June 18, 1979, in Mount Clemens. He was the captain of the Port Huron Northern Football Team for the 1996-1997 school year and graduated with honors from Port Huron Northern High School in 1997. Daniel joined the Marines in July 1997, after his high school graduation. Daniel is survived by his mother, Linda Duckworth of Seneca, S.C.; his father, Paul Reinking of Chesterfield Township; his sisters, Heather Reinking of Port Huron and Jennifer Rein king of Seneca, S.C.; his grandparents, David H. and June Schultz of Seneca, S.C., and Arnold and Helen Reinking of Mount Clemens; and two good friends, Jared Young and Brandon Mack. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were by the Gary Kaufmann Funeral Home, Baltimore. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, 3455 Stone St., Port Huron. Dr. Herman Reitze
"On Monday morning, July 6, 1891, at 8 o'clock, Dr. Herman Reitze passed away after an illness of several months. The deceased was born in Lookout, Prussia, Dec. 18, 1823, and was therefore 68 years old at the time of his death. He came to America upwards of 40 years ago and went to Saginaw where he settled and lived for about two years, Saginaw at that time being little less than a wilderness. From Saginaw he came to St. Clair where he live about eight years when he removed to the farm upon which he died. The past seven years he had lived in Cheboygan practicing his profession. His wife died June 24, 1890, and two sons Max, living on the old farm, Rudolph living at Capac, one daughter, Mrs. McCardell, West Duluth, Minn., and a step-daughter, Mrs. Chapman, of Ypsilanti, are left to mourn his death. The deceased was brought up in the Lutheran faith in Prussia but of late years had not been identified with any particular church. He passed away believing that it was the will of God and that his faith would carry him safely through. His death is mourned by many friends whom he had made in this section and at Cheboygan and the funeral was held on Tuesday at his late residence, Rev. W. B. Millard officiating, and remains laid away in the city cemetery."

"Fort Gratiot - Ann L. Relken, 66, of Fort Gratiot died Friday, July 28, 2000, after a short illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Carsonville to the late Harrison and Roma (Ross) Watson. She married James William "Bill" Relken on July 7, 1953, in Ohio. He died Nov. 10, 1990. Mrs. Relken was employed with the Great Scott Grocery Chain for 30 years. She also owned and operated Ann & Bill's Flower Shop on Water Street with her husband. She was a board member with the ARC and volunteered with Blue Water Hospice and the Port Huron Hospital Festival of Trees. She is survived by a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gerry (Eileen) Ward of Clermont, Fla.; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick (Diane) Relkin of Fort Gratiot and Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Cindy) Relken of Port Huron; 12 grandchildren, Bobby Simenson, Jennifer Jones, Jerry Ward, Jim Ward, Billie-Jo Parmann and Ryan, Toni, Jody, Billy, Paul, Heather and Lindsey Relken; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. William (Joan) Watson of Port Huron; sister-in-law, Mary Watson of Port Huron; her best friend and longtime four-footed companion, Sassy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Harrison and William Relken and a brother, Clinton Watson. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral liturgy will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, with procession to St. Stephen Catholic Church for the funeral mass at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Lesniak will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ward II, Jim Ward, Bill Relken, Steve Watson, Dave Watson and Ray Watson. Phebe Jane Remer
"Phebe Jane Remer, was born in Pen Yan, N. Y., Jan. 30th, 1833. When she was quite a young girl she came with her parents to Michigan and settled in East China. On Dec. 24th, 1862, she was united in marriage with W. T. Brown. About 13 years ago they moved into St. Clair, where she has since resided, till the time of her death on May 11th. Mrs. Brown was of a quiet, retiring disposition, not saying much about her religion, but always trying to live the Christ-life, and cultivating a broad charity towards all mankind, ever seeking to throw the mantle of charity over the faults and weaknesses of others. She loved to do good and was love most by those who knew her best. A few weeks before her departure she wished to be baptized, and the ordinance was administered by Rev. M. w. Gifford at her home. Her sufferings were borne with patience and cheerfulness. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one daughter and three sisters. The funeral services were conducted from the family residence, May 13th, 1900, by Rev. Dr. Gifford. The remains were interred in the Puttigut cemetery. The family desire to express their heartfelt thanks to many friends and neighbors and especially to those who composed the choir, who rendered such timely assistance in their sorrow."

Andrew R. Remeselnik
"Memphis - Andrew R. "Andy" Remeselnik, 54, died Jan. 22, 2000, in University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, after a short illness. Andy was born Feb. 15, 1945, in Detroit, the son of the late Andrew and Eleanor Remeselnik. He married Anne C. Chilcote on March 14, 1997, in Goodells. He was a retired engineer with Chrysler Corp. He was a member of Blue Water Sport Fishing Association, and enjoyed fishing. He was a volunteer at area schools with the Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs program. He received the Governor's Community Service award in 1997 from Gov. John Engler. He attended the Free Methodist Church in Memphis. He was the past chairman of the River Crab Salmon Stakes Fishing Tournament and was a former member of the St. Clair County Youth Violence Prevention Task Force. He helped organize the School-to-Work Program. He is survived by his wife, Anne Christine Remeselnik of Memphis; a son, Andrew Remeselnik of the Virgin Islands; a daughter, Laura Remeselnik of Marysville; a son, Michael Remeselnik of Memphis, three stepchildren, Jennifer Bovenschen, Julie Bovenschen and Jeff Bovenschen, all of Memphis; a sister, Eileen Burnham of Houghton Lake; and a grandson, Andrew. Memorial services will be at noon today in the Free Methodist Church in Memphis. Pastor Bob Tucker will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street, Port Huron."

June 23, 1939 - "Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie McCartney Revenew, 45, were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCartney, Crimmins road, St. Clair township. Burial was in Hillside cemetery. Mrs. Revenew died Monday night in St. Clair Community hospital after several weeks' illness. Surviving Mrs. Revenew are her parents, three children, Robert, 14, Betty and Frank, twins, 11; two sisters, Misses Maud and Jennie McCartney, and a brother, John McCartney, all of St. Clair Township. Frank Revenew, her husband, died in 1934. Mrs. Revenew, who was born Sept, 23, 1893 in St. Clair township, has lived at 710 Vermont avenue, Marysville, for the past 11 years."

"Casco Twp. - Mrs. Anna Mae Rewalt, 69, of 4397 Meldrum road, died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Mt. Clemens, after a long illness. Mrs. Rewalt was born July 9, 1906, in Emmett, and lived in Casco Township the last 41 years. She married Homer J. Rewalt May 30, 1934, in Emmett. A graduate of Michigan State Normal College, Ypsilanti, Mrs. Rewalt taught in area schools for 34 years before retiring in 1968. She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Richmond, of the Altar Society, and of the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by her husband; five sons, Jon Rewalt, Washington, James Rewalt, Romeo, Thomas Rewalt, Mt. Clemens, Donald and Ronald Rewalt, both of Richmond; two brothers, Wilfred Keegan, Detroit, and Joseph Keegan, Emmett, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Roman, St. Clair Shores; and seven grandchildren. He brother James died in October. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Conger funeral Home, Richmond, and at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Richmond. The Rev. Harold Kreucher, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Richmond. She married David A. Reynolds on Sept. 7, 1991, in Port Huron. Mrs. Reynolds was active with the St. Clair County 4-H Fair, and was superintendent of the Rabbit Barn. She was a leader of the Country Clovers Rabbit Club and a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. She loved horses, sailing, arts and crafts and gardening. She is survived by her husband; her mother, Arlene Gregg of St. Clair; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Denise) Gregg, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Kristine) Gregg and Mr. and Mrs. Alwyn (Peggy) Gregg all of St. Clair; two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Katherine) Welser of St. Clair and Mr. and Mrs. David (Cheryl) Allison of Avoca; three nieces, JoLee and Christina Gregg and Emily Allison; six nephews, Jason and Justin Welser, Thomas, Jacob and Branden Gregg and Weston Allison; and two aunts, Florence Cheney and Helen Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mary: sons, Joseph, Christopher and Matthew, all of Richmond and Patrick of Leonard; daughters, Catherine Balduck of Algonac and Vicki Adler of Rockford; nine granchildren; brother, James and Lawrence Jr., both of Richmond, Edward of St. Clair, Donald of Ira township and Frederick and Arthur, both of Memphis; and sisters, Bernice Westrick and Caroline Biscarner, both of St. Clair and Rosemary Smith of Richmond. Services were held in St. Augustine Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Commyn officiating. Burial was in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond. Arrangements were made by Rewalt Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorial may be made to St. Augustine building fund or Blue Water Hospice."

"China Twp. - Ellis H. Rhodeman, 82, of China Township, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999. He was born in China Township on Dec. 11, 1917, the son of Henry and Matilda Hund Rhodeman. He married Elizabeth M. Shriner in China Township on Jan. 4, 1948. Mr. Rhodeman was a dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Peters and a member of the Farm Bureau. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Timothy of Puerto Rico; daughter, Margaret E. and her husband, Danny Romzek, of China Township; and his beloved grandson, Michael Romzek. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Peters (Palms Road, north of 26 Mile Road), Pastor Jonathan K. Bomgren will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting is in the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and in the church froin 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Carlton "Jack" Rice
"Marysville - Carlton "Jack" Rice, 71, of Marysville died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Marwood Manor. He was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Marysville. He married Cheril (Schwark) Bigger on May 18, 1989, in Las Vegas. Mr. Rice was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was awarded two purple hearts, the Korean service medal with one silver star and the United Nations service medal. He was a member of VFW Post #796, American Legion Post 8, Voiture 120 40/8, DAV Chapter 12, the Retired Enlisted Association and Moose Lodge #158. Jack was an avid bowler for 25 years and rolled a 300 game three years ago. He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Robert Bigger of Pasadena, Md., and Richard Bigger of Mount Clemens; four stepdaughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Stella) Williams of Sandusky, Jackie Prigmore of Pasadena, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Susan) Thompson of Wayne and Wendy Bigger of Midland; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Dick (Donna) Rice of Burtchville; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ken (Noreen) Ingerson of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Marysville Funeral Home. The Rev. Max W. Amstutz, Chaplain of Marwood Nursing and Rahabilitation, will officiate. Rich and Manuel of Burtchville and Cherie L. and Dwight Hutchinson of Port Huron; five grandsons; four granddaughters; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Bev Hubble of Cape Coral, Fla., and Lloyd and Geraldine Hubble of Ruby; her sister, Irene McKenzie of North Street; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Vanderpool of Burtchville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas F. Rich; and two sisters, Betty Sweet and Patricia Gustincic. She was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Bad Axe, the daughter of Alex and Grace (Crittenden) Ducharme. She married Thomas Rich on Aug. 1, 1942, in Deckerville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Deckerville, and the Women's Missionary Society. She was a former nurse's aide at Deckerville Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Sandusky; three sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Pat Rich of Marysville, Darrel and Sheila Rich of Afton, and Lynn and Judy Rich of Dexter; two daughters and a son-in-law. Corinne and John Green of Toledo, Ohio, and Dee Ann Rich of Honduras; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Ducharme and Howard Ducharme: and three sisters, Dorothy Ducharme, Marie Ducharme, and Mildred Toppin. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor Andrew Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or Gideons International."

"St. Clair, Dec. 16 - Capt. Fred H. Robbins, 69, retired Great Lakes captain, died early today in his home at 6744 Belle River road after a long illness. Captain Robbins was born Dec. 10, 1883, on a farm on Indian Trail road in China Township, son of the late Nelson and Ada Robbins. He married Margaret Blaikie in 1904. He sailed since boyhood for the Cleveland Tankers company. His command was the steamer Rocket when he retired in 1945. He is survived by his widow, six daughters, Mrs. Ada bowie, Detroit; Mrs. Joseph Makay, Algonac; Mrs. Donald Tassie, Mrs. Francis McGrath, Mrs. Dale Potter and Mrs. Fred Dixon, all of St. Clair; four sons, Capt. Robert, Paul, Richard and Herbert Robbins, all of St. Clair, and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the T. R. Bower funeral home with Rev. Funeral services were were held Monday from the Anderson funeral home in San Francisco. She is survived by her husband, Frank; a son, Ralph Roberson, and one grandchild, all of San Francisco; a sister, Mrs. William McMullen, Tripp road, St. Clair township; and two half-brothers, Harrison Barringer, Port Rowan, Ontario, and James Barringer, Big Lake, Washington."

"Mrs. Melissa E. Roberts, after patiently suffering over five years, passed peacefully away at 7:30 Friday evening, March 3d. Funeral service was held at the house Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Corbett of St. Paul's Church officiating. The beautiful hymns she loved so well were sweetly sung by the choir. She was 68 years old and was the mother of ten children, four of whom survive her, viz: I. S. Roberts, Mrs. A. J. Harvey, Mrs. J. H. Conner and E. M. Roberts. The husband and father died six weeks and four days before her."

John E. Robertson
"John E. Robertson died at his home in China township, Friday, Sept. 30, 1892, aged 62 years. An event which does not occur in every man's life was the fact that the deceased died within one mile of the spot where he was born. For over 40 years Mr. Robertson had been an engineer on the lakes, the foundation of his last sickness resulting from catching cold while acting as engineer upon the steamer Idlewild while running from Detroit to Port Huron last fall. On October 15th, 1891, he left the boat and gradually failed until his death. The immediate cause of his death was dropsy. He leaves a widow and two sons Frank L., of this city and Porter, of Port Huron, who with a large circle of friends mourn the death of a good husband and father and kind neighbor. The funeral services were held Sunday morning at his late residence, Rev. W. A. Tripp officiating and the remains buried in the Podegot cemetery. The bereaved relations desire to express their thanks for courtesies extended by sympathizing friends."

Mary Ann Robertson
"Port Huron - Mary Ann Robertson, 60, of Port Huron passed away Friday, April 21, 2000, in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. She was born May 6, 1939, in Crane Hill, Ala., to Voris and Mary Perdue and lived in Port Huron since 1968. She was formerly a part-owner of Powers Restaurant and later was employed at the C&O Railroad for many years. She married W. Grant Robertson in 1986 and they worked together at Merchants Delivery Service. Grant passed away June 21, 1997. Mary Ann was a member of the Vivians, attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church; enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Jacque (Stephen) Masterson of Port Huron Township and Kristie (Charles) Turner of St. Clair; three stepchildren, Kristee (Steve) Gerstenberger of Fort Gratiot, Denny (Chris) Robertson of Port Huron and Doug (Bonnie) Robertson of Clearwater, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Lindsay, Carly and Steven Gerstenberger, Marc and Allyn Robertson, Amanda and Ashley Robertson, Brooke and Jade Masterson and Josh, Kyle and Trey Turner; her mother, Mary MacInnes of Port Huron; two brothers, Jerry (Sue) Oden and Gary (Laurie) Oden, both of Burtchville Township; her sister, Simone (Orville) Reid of Port Huron Township; her stepbrother, Gregory Perdue; stepsister, Jane (Bill) LePine; and stepmother, Marjorie Perdue, all of Baton Rouge, La.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Robertson II. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Port Huron Family Funeral Home, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Stanley Leichty, assistant pastor at Colonial Woods Missionary Church, will officiate. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Because of Mary Ann's love for gardening, the family suggests to those who wish to, that a planting may be made in her memory. Other memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice."

Born in Gaspe, Quebec, Aug. 4, 1869, he moved to Michigan in 1888. Mr. Robin was married in 1897. He was a member of Pine Grove lodge, No. 11, F. & A. M., Noruh Grotto, and Mystic Chapter, O. E. S. Mertie Robinson
"July 15, 1897, at her residence, 121 Root St., Cleveland, O., Mertie, wife of W. O. Robinson, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Butlin, passed away, after a long, suffering illness of about four months. She was the youngest of a family of six and the first to be called away to the better land. She leaves a father, mother, three sisters, two brothers, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Two of her sisters reside in St. Clair, Mrs. F. J. Porter and Mr. J. Powrie, and one near Marine City, Mrs. E. Stephenson. Her brothers, Lyman and George, still live on the farm. Had she lived to see the 22nd of this month she would have been 26 years old. Her father and mother were with her in her last days of sickness which was a great comfort to her. The funeral took place from the China M. E. church of which she was a true and faithful member, and was conducted by Rev. W. A. Tripp, with a large concourse of relatives and friends of the family in attendance. The family desire to thank all who were so kind and helpful to them during their affliction. - A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled The boon his love has given; And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in heaven."

"Marine City - Norman K. Robinson, 61, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1988. He was born Nov. 10, 1926 in Sullivan, Ind., and lived in the area for 11 years. He married Elizabeth 'Betty' Kaup on Oct. 21, 1950 at the Great Lakes Naval Base. Mr. Robinson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. A former insurance adjuster and assessor in Harrison, he moved to the area in 1977 to assume the duties as Marine City assessor. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Keith A. of Mount Clemens and Mark P. of Marine City. Services will be held at 11 a.m.Wednesday in the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. The Rev. Mertz of Gladwin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James, who died in infancy; and also three sisters and two brothers who died earlier. Ruth was a foster grandparent. Surviving are two daughters, Muriel (Lawrence Bourgeois) Reynaert of Lexington and Sue (Brian) Filbeck of Louisiana; two sons, Kenneth (Carol) of Applegate and Robert of Croswell; one daughter-in-law, Nora Rockefeller of Croswell; one brother, Ross Foster of California; a sister-in-law, Marietta Corkins of St. Clair; seven grandchildren, Robin (John) Swanson, Diane (Randy) Long, Glenn (Terry) Rockefeller, Kathy (Dale) Bensal, Kenneth Rockefeller, Tim (Leslie) Rockefeller and Vicky (Jim) Wilson; 15 great grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Kyle and Ryan Rockefeller, Autumn Rockefeller, Nicholas, Cody and Jamie Long, Daniel, Heather, and John Swanson, Tonya and Cory Bensal, and Bo, Brian and Brooke Scheldon. William T. "Billy" Rodegeb, Jr.
"Rodegeb, William T., Jr. (Billy) - Died S.F. on June 19, 1994. He was 23 years old. Bill is survived by his mother, Kathleen, father William of Michigan, sister Melissa, brothers, Scott and Brandon, a nephew, a niece and longtime girlfriend Melissa H., and by many other people who he loved. A memorial service will be held in S.F. at Fort Miley, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to S.F.P.D. Youth Wilderness Program, S.F. Boys and Girls Clubs or Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations. Bill's brother, Brandon, wrote an additional memorial that was included in a phamplet handed out to those who attended the memorial service. It reads: He has a heart as big as the sky, and a spirit as free as the wind, we all knew and loved him as Billy. Billy was born William Thomas Rodegeb, Jr., on October 25th, 1970 in Port Huron, Michigan. He moved to San Francisco, Ca. in 1977 with his family and lived for most of his life in the Hunter's Point District. Billy graduated from Francis Scott Key High School, and is a graduate of Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Maryland. Upon graduation from Harry Lundeberg, Bill became a U.S. Merchant Marine. He also attended S.F. City College and worked on a cruise line in Hawaii. Billy was extensively involved in the S.F.P.D. Inner-City Youth Wilderness Program, the S.F. Boys and Girls Club, and the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations. He loved to raft, hike, camp, ride his bike, build and fix things, draw, dee-jay and too many other things to list. "There were few area farmers who loved horses as much as Charles J. Roehl Jr. In the past 50 years, his prizewinning draft horse teams have won numerous state championships and two world records for lightweight pulling at county and state fairs in Michigan. Charles "Jack" Roehl, 70, of 422 Deerfield Lane, Richmond, died Friday. But he and his horses never retired. They competed Aug. 19 at the Smiths Creek Lions Field Day. Roehl began training horses at age 5 with his older brother, Harry, and his father, Charles Roehl. Until 1955, they were in business together. When Charles Roehl Sr. retired, and Jack and Harry went their separate ways. Roehl had lived and farmed in Smiths Creek until he and his wife, Dorothy, moved to a smaller home in Richmond in October 1983. He kept his horses at the farm of his nephew, Ben Witukiewicz, Smiths Creek. Roehl's teams set two world records for weight and distance pulling at the county fair in Hillsdale in 1965 and 1966. They also pulled in competitions in eastern states, including New York, Massachusettes, Maine and Vermont, and in Canada. His secret was hard work. "He would go out into the fields for hours every day to train horses. That's all he did," his son, Daniel said. He also loved his horses. "He took very good care of them and fed them well." said his daughter-in-law, Nancy Roehl, Smiths Creek. "His horses were his life," Nancy Roehl said."

Brown City - Jacqueline "Jackie" Root, 68, of Brown City died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Marlette. She was born April 23, 1932, in Brown City to Bert and Helen Welch. She graduated from Brown City High School. On June 17, 1950, she married C.J. Root at the Brown City Methodist Church. She was a housewife and mother and had worked at Marlette Community Hospital as a medical assistant for Drs. Hammet and Starbird. She was a teacher's aide at Brown City Schools. She was a longtime member of Brown City United Methodist Church and served in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a youth leader for many years. She is survived by her husband, C.J. Root; three children, Brian (Cindy) Root, Bob Root and Cindy (Brad) Cummings, all of Brown City; six grand children, Erica, Jeff, Debbie, B.J., Amanda and Thomas; mother-in-law, Elena Root; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen (Ken) Miller; a sister, Averille Shoults; and three brothers, Bud (Mary) Welch, Arden (Marie) Welch and Ron (Phyllis) Welch. She was preceded in death by a son, Lanny, and a brother, Robert. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Carman Funeral Home in Brown City. "St. Clair, June 18 - Mrs. Abbie Ross, 82, former St. Clair resident, died in Detroit, Friday. She had been in poor health several years. Mrs. Ross, widow of George Ross, who died in St. Clair Sept, 15, 1944, was born in Detroit, Jan. 24, 1873. She was a resident of St. Clair for about 12 years. She was a member of First Congregational church and Plymouth circle of the church. Mrs. Ross is survived by two sons, Dr. Donald G. Ross, Grosse Pointe, and Robert Ross, Dearborn, Mich,; a granddaughter and a great grandchild. Remains are in the L. C. Friederichs and Son funeral home where services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Mrs. Roundhill was born Sept. 1, 1862, in Kingston, Ont., and until the death of her husband, John Roundhill, in 1944, lived in St. Clair. She has resided since with her son Roy Roundhill, New Baltimore, who is the sole survivor. Mr. and Mrs. Roundhill in 1938 celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. For 50 years, he was an employe of Diamond Crystal Salt company. Funeral services for Mrs. Roundhill will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Freiderichs funeral home. Dr. Clyde M. He was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Detroit, son of the late Charles R. and Mary Ella (Grigg) Rowe. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. Tom and his brother, Alton, farmed in Washington Township, before retiring several years ago. He was a life member of F&AM Sanilac Lodge #237, Port Sanilac. He was a life member of VFW Post #8872, Port Sanilac. He attended the Port Sanilac United Methodist Church. Surviving are his brother, Alton, of Port Sanilac; one sister, Dulce Gast of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a nephew, Dennis Gast of St. Petersburg; a niece, Patricia Mason of Miami, Fla.; and many friends. "Mrs. Aurelia Roy resided in St. Clair about thirty-five years. She was born in Amherstberg, Ont., in 1828, and died Oct. 8th, in this city. She leaves seven children, one son and six daughters, viz: Louis B., Mrs. Joseph Duceatt, Mrs. Chas, Rano, Mrs. Albert Schwabm, Miss Louise Roy, of this city, Mrs. William Drawe, of Marine City and Mrs. John Engelgau, of Berville. The funeral was held at St. Mary's church, Monday morning, Rev. Father Maschino, officiating. The remains were laid at rest in the Catholic cemetery west of the city. To the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted them during the time of the sickness and death of their mother, also the choir for the music rendered at the funeral, the family wish to express their sincere thanks."

Marjorie Claire Rumbaugh
"St. Clair, April 18 — Funeral services were held in Royal Oak Wednesday for Mrs. Chester Rumbaugh, 35, who died in her home on Belle River road between Marine City and St. Clair. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Gary Rumbaugh, Jan Rumbaugh and Michael Rumbaugh, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Robbins, Mrs. John Cochrane, both of Marine City, and Mrs. Ace Ochs, North Hollywood, Calif.; and her parents, Arthur Clayton, Marine City, and Mrs. Fred Gordon, Port Huron."

"Marjorie Claire Rumbaugh was born June 17, 1914, in Cando, North Dakota, the eldest child of Arthur C. Clayton and Gladys. With her family she came to Michigan four years later and spent her early years in suburban Detroit and on the old maternal homestead in China Township, on Belle River Road. In November 1934, she became the wife of Chester B. Rumbaugh, of Detroit. The young couple soon established themselves in their home on part of the Clayton homestead where they lived for about fifteen years. In the meantime Mr. Rumbaugh became accountant and assistant manager of the St. Clair-Macomb Consumers Co-op, near Richmond, and three sons joined the family—Gary who is now thirteen; Jan, nine; and Michael, six. After an intermittent illness covering a period of more than two years, Marjorie finally passed away on April 11, 1950. Besides her husband, sons, and parents, she leaves three sisters—Mrs. Robert Robbins and Mrs. John Cochrane, both living on the old homestead, and Patti Ochs, of North Hollywood, California, also the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs M.L. Barnes, and an uncle, S. W. Barnes, all of Mt. Clemens. Funeral services were held at Kinsey’s Funeral Home, and the final rites at Whitechapel Cemetery both in Royal Oak."

"Fort Gratiot - J. Grant Rumley, 74, of Fort Gratiot, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, in his home. He was born Sept. 19, 1924 in Port Huron and was a lifelong resident. He married Barbara A. Beatty on Nov. 10, 1951, in the Gesu Church, Detroit. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit. He was a very active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church serving as a lector, bell ringer, and a member of the Parish Council. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He received the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Combat Stars. He was active with the Old Newsboys. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Rumley of Fort Gratiot; his sons, Jeffrey P. Rumley of St. Clair Shores, John Grant (Mary) Rumley of Fairfax, Va., and Michael J. (Shelley) Rumley of Waterford; six grandchildren; his brother, James R (Marilyn) Rumley of Fort Gratiot; his sisters, Audrey (Keith) Park of Fort Meyers, Fla., Patricia (Paul) Delaney of Fort Gratiot, Jacqueline (Harold) Jellinek of Bethesda, Maryland, Suzanne Rumley of Port Huron and Mary Rumley of Burtchville Twp. and his brother-in-law, William Saunders of Port Huron. "Donald J. Rumsey, 80, lifelong resident of St. Clair County, died Sunday in the home of his son Glenn Rumsey, 1414 Union street after a long illness. Mr. Rumsey was born March 12, 1870 in Columbus. He formerly operated a grocery store in South Port Huron 25 years. He farmed before coming to Port Huron. His wife, Mrs. Emma M. Rumsey, died April 5, 1949. Besides his son, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Hart, Bay City; Mrs. Zoe Stewart, Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Cora Barringer, St. Clair; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains are in the Kipp funeral home where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Herbert F. Hausser, associate pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Kitteridge Cemetery, Snyderville."

Mary Rumsey
"The funeral of the late Mrs. Dale Rumsey was held from the China M. E. church on Tuesday morning at 11:30 o’clock. Rev. Healey, officiated. The interment took place in the Balfour cemetery. Miss May Brines was born in St. Clair township and was about 26 years of age. Two years ago she was united in marriage to Dale Rumsey, a bright young farmer also of St. Clair township. She had no children but numerous relations besides her husband survive to mourn her loss. She is a sister of Mrs. John Klinger of this city and a brother, Charles E. Brines, resides at Buffalo. Her father died on August 25th last after a lingering sickness. The deceased had been suffering from a tumor for some time past and on Friday, Jan. 16th was taken to a hospital at Detroit, where an operation was performed the day following. She stood the operation well and seemed to be gaining, but blood poisoning set in and she was relieved from her suffering Friday last by the death angel. Her remains were brought home on Saturday."

James worked as a shrimper in Texas and Florida. He is survived by his father, Herbert Runge of Haslett; his sister, Elizabeth (Don) Barker of Lansing; his brother, Herbert (Deanna) Runge of St. Clair; his sisters, Linda (Daniel) Steinbach and Karen (J.R.) Elliot, both of Port Huron; his brother, David Runge of Port Huron; his sisters, Theresa (Tony) Regan of Mount Clemens and Mary Jane (Donnie) Ouderkirk of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Runge. A memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. His ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. Leo Rushing
"Jackson - Leo Rushing, 52, of Jackson, formerly of Memphis, went to be with his Lord on his birthday, Friday. Dec. 24, 1999. He was born in Frankfort, Germany on Dec. 24, 1947, to Donald R. and Gertrud Melcher Rushing. Leo was employed as an electrician in Albion at the Hayes-Albion Foundry where he served for 13 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Leo was a Member of the American Legion, Rose, City Post 324 in Jackson, and was an important member of the Patriot movement. He was a graduate of Michigan State University and enjoyed working with stained glass. Surviving are his brothers, Melvin of Jackson, Ronald of Port Huron, David (Sally) of Memphis and Darrin (Lisa).of Port Huron; and nieces and nephews, Laurel Anne Allen, Michelle Leigh, Cathryn Elsebeth, Jason Reed, Jessica Leigh, Jacob Uriah, Benjamin Richard, Rachel Lee, Eric M., Aaron M., Phillip M., Tammy L., David Athal, Jeane' Marie T., and Michaell Shawn Rushing. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald (January 1991), his mother, Gertrude (June 1998), his grandmother, Lillian Rushing (December 1998), and his brother, Patrick V. Rushing (August 1999). Services are 11 a.m Wednesday in the Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery. Visiting is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday."

Arvilla Allen Russell
"Marine City - Arvilla Allen Russell, age 73, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence E. Russell and was a lifetime resident of Marine City. She was born Feb. 12, 1931 in Sherman City, MI to the late Andrew and Florence Loomis and beloved sister of two brothers and four sisters respectfully. She was the loving mother of Garry A. Russell, Darlene Silver, both of Port Huron, Claudia (Greg) Contrino of Indiana, Sandra (David) Malcom of Algonac and Barbara (Scott) Nates of Port Huron; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and special companion, Alvan Ellis of Marine City. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Arvilla L. "Bunny" Russell on March 21, 1972. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are 3 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Dialysis Center. Merry Christmas my children, I love you all dearly. Now don't shed a tear, I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year. Love, Mom."

"Ubly - Albert Rutkowski, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1993. He is survived by four sons, Joseph, Edward, Elmer and Clarence and three daughters, Reta Pollum, Marcy Guyger and Leona Zinger. Mr. Rutkowski was a milk cooker. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in St. John's Catholic Church in Ubly. Visiting is noon to 9:30 p.m. today and 8 to 9:15 p.m. Friday in the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. A parish Scripture service is at 8 p.m."

Terry S. Ryan
"Lexington - Terry S. Ryan, age 66, a resident of Lexington, passed away on Friday evening, March 31, 2000, at his residence surrounded by his family. Terry was born on March 11, 1933, in Port Huron, the son of the late Julius and Betty (Carr) Ryan. He married Elizabeth L. McGraw on Nov. 27, 1954, in Caribou, Maine. Terry served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was a parts manager for area automobile dealerships. Terry was an avid bowler, bowling up until just a few weeks ago. He loved to go hunting and fishing. Terry also loved going to the casinos in Mount Pleasant and St. Ignace. He also enjoyed operating the family farm for many years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Ryan of Lexington; four sons, Paul (Patricia) Ryan of Merrill, Wis., Phillip (Betty) Ryan of Deckerville, Patrick (Sharon) Ryan of Kalamazoo, Perry (Ruth) Ryan of Croswell; one daughter, Phyllis (Ed) Parker of Smiths Creek; one brother, Robert Ryan of Lexington; two sisters, Phyllis (Bob) McClellan of Croswell and Rosemary (Jack) Wilson of Afton; two step-brothers, Ron (Barbara) Pennell of Port Huron and Jack (Elaine) Pennell of Port Huron; two step-sisters, Belle (Ed) Distelrath of Kentucky and Donna (Archie) Jones of Port Huron; sisters-in-law, June Ryan of Port Huron, Doris Ryan of Port Sanilac and Ruth Ryan of Florida; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ryan; four brothers, Bruce, Richard, Michael and Gerald Ryan; two step-sisters, Audrey Hines and Lois Zimmerman; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Ryan and Joyce Ryan. Visiting will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. High Priest Kyle Burgess of the Croswell R.L.D.S. Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Croswell Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Terry may be made to the family."

"St. Clair - Jacob C. Rycerz, 70, of St. Clair went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001. He was born Jan. 10, 1930 to Stefan and Mary Rycerz. He was the founder of Adair Salvage and served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Camille; daughter, Rachel (Joshua) Perritt; son, Robin Pearce; his brother, Michel Rycerz; sisters, Sophie Liebteu, Agnes Pavlik, Rose Reese, Stella Depaw and Ann Riedel; business partner and nephew, John W. (Gayle) Pavlik; niece Kathy Pavlik; and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Rev. Edward Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today in L. C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul."

Charles F. Ryden
"Charles F. Ryden, 67, died at his home, 315 Union, Friday afternoon. Mr. Ryden and his family came to this city last May from Montreal. Mr. Ryden is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters: Clarence Ryden of Halifax; Leon Ryden, this city; Mrs. C. Douglass Danford, of Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Corrinne Ryden, this city. The funeral services will be held from the family residence Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. John Munday will officiate at the services. Mr. Ryden was a retired master car builder having been in the employ of the Canadian Pacific, Standard Steel Co. and Pullman Car Co., for many years."

Walter Rzonca
"Bradenton, Fla. - Walter Rzonca, went home to the Lord on Saturday, April 10, 1999 in Bradenton, Florida. He was born April 19, 1917 in Detroit to Marianna Wegrzynowski and Stanley Rzonca. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1939. He married Virginia Trumble in 1946 in St. Clair. Walter worked at the Diamond Crystal Salt Co. for 43 years retiring in 1978. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia; his children, Tom Rzonca of Clinton Twp., Dan Rzonca of Flint, Nancy (Ron) Schott, Barbara Lord of Fort Gratiot, Frank (Edwinna) of Parrish, Florida and Carrie Rzonca of St. Clair; grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Thompson, Jeni and Jeremy Rzonca, Kenny and Lynette Lewandowski; two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Clare Rzonca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Peter and John and sister, Stella. A memorial mass will be conducted Monday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Rev. Edward Ritter, Pastor, will officiate. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Local arrangements are by Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, St. Clair."
