Jewell Edith Matlock, 75, Route 2,
Jonesville, Va., died Thursday (Sept. 3, 1998) at Johnson City Medical
Center.
A lifelong resident of Lee County,
Va., she was a homemaker and a member of Russell Chapel United
Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Neal C. Matlock Sr.; an infant son; her mother, Lillie Denson
and father, Granville W. Denson; one brother, M.C. Denson; and one
sister, Maxie D. Frazier. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law,
Neal C. Matlock Jr. and wife Kay Matlock, Jonesville, Va.; daughter
and son-in-law, Carlene and husband, Danny Potter, Berea, Ky.; one
granddaughter, Kim Potter; two stepgranddaughters, Lisa McLaughlin and
Susie Ford; two brothers, Roy L. Denson, Mentor, Ohio and Wheeler J.
Denson, Jonesville, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Stuart (Albon) Cowden,
Kingsport, Mrs. Herbert (Pauline) Daugherty, Powell, Tenn., Mrs.
Everette (Emmeline) Glass, Goldsboro, N.C., and Mrs. Harold
(Ernestine) Powers, Pfafftown, N.C.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m.
today at Province Funeral Home, Jonesville, Va. and anytime at the
home of the son, Neal, Route 4, Jonesville, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11
a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. J. Leonard Gibson
and the Rev. Herbert Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow at
Hillside Cemetery, Russell Chapel, Jonesville, Va.
