Matlock, of Rose Hill, VA passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Holston
Valley Medical Center at the age of 86.
George lived in Rose Hill all of
his life. He was a retired farmer and a clock & watch repairer. He was
a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith
& read his Bible daily.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, William & Elizabeth Debusk Matlock and brothers, Neal, Noel &
Dewey Matlock.
He is survived by: His devoted
wife of 64 years: Pauline Matlock of Rose Hill, Virginia; Son &
daughter-in-law: Marvin & Faye Matlock of Jonesville, Virginia;
Daughter & son-in-law: Janet & David Hancock of Wytheville, Virginia;
Granddaughter: Emily Williams and husband, Carl of Bastian, Virginia;
Grandson: Michael Hancock of Wytheville, Virginia; Sister: Ruth
Matlock of Lexington, Kentucky, USA; Sisters-in-law: Alma Matlock &
Virginia Matlock, both of Rose Hill, Virginia; Nieces, nephews, and a
host of friends & caring neighbors.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Friday, June 5 at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose
Hill, Virginia. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 8:00
p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fred Cagle officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 in the
Matlock Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, Virginia.

ROSE HILL, Va. - Pauline Hobbs
Matlock, 91, of Rose Hill, Va., passed away Friday (March 30, 2012) at
the Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va.A lifelong
resident of Lee County, Va, she was a member of Hardy's Creek Baptist
Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, George Isaac Matlock;
her parents, Fred Lafayette Hobbs and Minerva Lee Hobbs; and four
brothers, Edward, Wilfred, Hoye, and Quinton Hobbs.
Surviving are one son, Marvin
Matlock and wife, Faye of Jonesville, Va.; one daughter, Janet Hancock
and husband, David of Wytheville, Va.; two grandchildren, Michael
Hancock of Wytheville, Va., Emily Williams and husband, Carl of
Bastian, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Alma Matlock and Laura Hobbs;
several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
The family will receive friends
from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose
Hill, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the
funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fred Cagle and Rev. Kevin Kiser
officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in
the Matlock Cemetery in Rose Hill, Va. Family and friends are asked to
meet at the cemetery prior to services.
