George Washington Edmondson, son of Elijah Edmondson and Catherine Owens, was
born 08 Dec 1852 in Washington County, Virginia and died 29

He married Virginia Ann Cole, daughter of
Nathaniel Bartholemew Cole and Margaret "Peggy"
DeBusk, on 15 Jun 1876 in Claiborne County,
Tennessee. They are both buried in San Saba,
San Saba County, Texas.
George Washington Edmondson's father, Elijah
Edmondon is the son of Andrew "River Andy" Edmondson and
Susan DeBusk. George Washington Edmondson's wife, Virginia
Ann Cole is a descandant of Elijah DeBusk
and Catherine Rouse through he mother Margaret
"Peggy" DeBusk, the the daughter
of Elijah DeBusk, Jr. and Margaret Peggy
Gross.
George Washington Edmondson lived in Claiborne
County, Tennessee initially. He lived in
Kentucky for 5 Years prior to moving to San
Saba County, Texas in 1903. They bought a
place in the Pecan Grove Community and went
into the fur and hide business. His place
was just across the Pecan Grove bridge on
the San Saba River where he raised skunks
and Jerusalem artichokes. It was said that
even though he bathed regularly, he always
carried the faint scent of skunk. If he paid
someone with a check and the teller did not
know the bearer he would sniff the check
and say "Yep, that's George's check,
alright." Eight of his children followed
them to Texas. Source is an article written

County, Tennessee census as the 10 year old
son of Elijah and Catherine Edmondson.
