Obituary for Woodrow Bryant DeBusk

Woodrow Bryant DeBusk, of Idalou,
departed
from this life on May 17, 2009 at
the age
of 90. He was born on May 24, 1918
to Christopher
"Tip" Houston and Nettie
Brown
(Acrey) DeBusk in Cross Cut, Texas.
Woodrow
graduated from Idalou High School
in 1938
and later married Nellie Watson
on December
24, 1938. She preceded him in death
on September
11, 2004.
He was a member of the Lions Club,
served
on the Boards of the Idalou Co-op
Gin, Idalou
Methodist Church, City Council,
School Board,
and Buffalo Lakes, participated
in baseball
little league and the Idalou Ski
Club in
the 1950s. Woodrow loved to play
golf and
fly. He was a pilot for many years.
He and
his family moved from Cross Cut
to Idalou
in 1923 where he farmed until his
passing.
Those left to cherish his memory
are his
two daughters, Lynn Neff of San
Angelo and
Tondya Bownds and husband Lance
of Idalou;
two sons, Chris DeBusk and wife
Barbara Jean
of Lubbock, Dwayne DeBusk and wife
Pat of
Idalou; one brother, Monroe DeBusk
of Idalou;
eleven grandchildren; and eleven
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents;
two
sons, Jerry Don and Rex Keith DeBusk;
three
brothers; and four sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will
be held
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20,
2009 at
the First United Methodist Church
in Idalou
with Tim DeBusk, Stace DeBusk and
Rev. Terry
Brown officiating. Interment is
to follow
at the Idalou Cemetery.
