Ector County,Texas. He was a field Operator for Phillips Petroleum
Company and retired with 42 years. During World War 11 he was a
Tail-gunner in the United States Marines. He married Ruth
Geraldine (Gerrie) Harrison 23 Jan 1943 in Odessa, Ector County,
Texas. She was born 25 Mar 1927 in Tull, Grant County, Arkansas. He is
buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Ector County, Texas.

Odessa Clarence Mitchell “C. M.”
Byrd, 82, of Odessa, TX, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2007,
after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Byrd was born May 21, 1925 in
Crosscut, Texas to Mitchell and Susie Byrd. C.M. moved to Odessa in
1941. He was a United States Marine and served as a tail-gunner in
World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from Phillips Petroleum
after 42 years of service as a field operator. He is a member of the
American Legion, and VFW. He was a member of Vine Avenue Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64
years, Ruth Geraldine “Gerrie” Byrd; 1 son, David Byrd and his wife
Terry of Stone Mountain, GA; 2 daughters, Elaine McCullough of Odessa,
TX, and Sally Turner of Baton Rouge, LA; 6 grandchildren; 3
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded
in death by his parents and sister Odessa Johnson. Memorials may be
directed to Hospice House; 903 Sam Houston; Odessa, TX 79762.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00
p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Johnny Touchtone officiating. Burial with military honors
will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are
under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
