Ignace was the son of Joseph Robert and Marie-Louise Thuot, dit Duval. He was born 18 June 1799 and baptized the same day. On 16 November 1824 he married Catherine Thuot, dit Duval, the daughter of Ignace Thuot, dit Duval and Marie-Louise Meny. Ignace and Catherine were 1st cousins.
