Because the settlement of Mackinac County is so old and varies greatly in it's mix of cultures over the centuries, research of persons who came to Mackinac is not limited exclusively to the County. Although we are far from being experts, our knowledge of where to look for various records is constantly growing, and we will be happy to help if we can. We would like to stress, however, that we will not do your searching for you but instead will assist in where to look for records when we are able to do so. Anyone with Mackinac families that have done their genealogies and would like to share and have the data posted at this web site is more than welcome. Pictures are great too. If anyone has any old photos of family from the area. Also, diaries, bible records, old letters that are unique in content are needed.

We believe in helping each other and that is how our knowledge grows. Have fun exploring the links. One more point of interest. We both belong to a large group of researches that are seeking families who were originally at Mackinac, left that area for Drummond Island, and eventually ended up in Penetanguishene, Ontario in the Georgian Bay. These families consisted mostly of, but not limited to, French fur trade families and their Native American/First Nations wives. Anyone who has family that would fit into this area is urged to contact us and we would be happy to add you to our group.
