Harold L. "Bill" Hummell

  Harold L. "Bill" Hummell, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, a former resident of Richland Center, died Tues., Jan. 21, 1997, at Park Place Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

  He was born June 3, 1909 in Henry County, Iowa to Charles and Effie F. Smith Hummell. He married Alice Mae Law on June 9, 1930, andshe preceded him in death.

  He worked for several years at a steel mill in Sterling-Rock Falls, Ill. and operated a dairy farm near Richland Center for 40 years.

  Survivors include a brother George Hummell of Mt. Pleasant; a sister Vera Dumas of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews including Carol Ruby of Mt. Pleasant. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, James, Paul, Carroll, and Richard, and a sister Bernice Hummell.

  Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Monday, Jan. 27, 1997 at Sand Prairie Cemetery at Blue River. Rev. Craig Peach will officiate. Pratt Funeral Service is assisting the family.
