Vanished Site Data

Site Name: Bill Knapp's
Site Location: Portage Street and West Main Street
Date Vanished: 2002
Site Information: Bill Knapps, a family-oriented food chain began in Battle Creek in the late 1940s, and grew to locations throughout the Midwest and Florida.  Their reputation was made on the quality of their food with specialties like au gratin potatoes, steakburgers, and ham croquettes.  Thousands of birthdays were celebrated at Knappís location, due in part to their custom of discounting the food tab by the age of the celebrant.  The market changed, and Knapps didnít, and their stores were all closed by 2002
