About SRVC

The Sandy River Valley Chapter (SRVC) of the Maine Genealogical Society (MGS) was not officially organized until December of 1978 and received its MGS Charter in 1979.  However, individuals from this area were instrumental in forming the MGS in 1976 and the group's purpose has remained:

to collect, exchange, preserver and publish genealogical records, related documents and information, to establish and maintain a genealogical library for the use of those interested in the subject, and to promote and encourage interest in genealogy in the State of Maine

Chapter Meetings

The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the MGS holds monthly meetings from September through June. We meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Genealogy Room of the Farmington Public Library on the second Saturday of the month.

Meetings are open to the public and we welcome beginning genealogists as well as experienced. Curious? Think maybe you might like to know more about genealogy? Attend a meeting. No membership in any particular organization is required. Everyone's welcome!
