06-36 Johnson In my husband's family, there is a Franklin Johnson, D.D., who married a lady by the name of Persis I., Persis J. or Isabel Persis who was born in Buckfield, Maine 16 Nov 1856, according to later census records and passenger lists.

If anyone can provide her maiden name, I'd certainly appreciate it. In 1900 and 1910, her residence was Chicago, IL as Franklin taught at the University of Chicago. 1930 census gave her residence as Center, Massachusetts.		 12/14/06 Mary E
06-35 Davis, Fogg, Hackett, Haines, Mitchell, Monk, Moody, Penley, Penly, Vickery Compiling all PENLEY/PENLY in Maine after 1770 as virtually any PENLEY/PENLY in Maine aft 1770 is a descendant of Joseph PENLY 1st 1755 Eng - 1844 ME and either his 1st wife, Esther 5 FOGG (widow JOHNSON) 1754 - 1796, or his 2nd wife, Thankful MOODY 1770 - 1862. This includes desc of all daughters, granddaughters, Great grandaughters, etc. My own GGG gf was Joseph PENLEY II b 1792 who married Lovina MONK of Hebron. They lived on a farm on High Street between S Paris and West Paris. Joseph 1's daughters b 1781 - 1810 mar DAVIS, HACKETT, HAINES, MITCHELL, and VICKERY. 06-33 Allen, Lothrop, Hotel Swazey Looking for information about Otis and Cora (Lothrop) Allen and daughters Rosa and Grace. The History of the Descendants of John Whitman of Weymouth states on p. 443 that Otis was the proprietor of the Hotel Swazey in Canton. This book was published in 1899, but the research may not have been current at the time the book was published.

Otis and Cora were living in Chesterville in 1880, but not found in 1900. Looking for death and burial information for Otis and Cora, and marriage or death information for their daughters.		 11/24/06 Leah

06-29 Wyman Myrtie Lena Wyman was born c.1885 in Andover, daughter of John Boyd Wyman. Her last known whereabouts was in the Portland area around 1910. She was still unmarried at that time. Myrtie was the birth mother of my mother, who was born in 1908 in Andover. 06-27 Clark, Jennings, Merrell, Wakefield Andrew Eugene Wakefield, born December 26, 1853, had two brothers by names of

  • Charles Franklin Wakefield
Their parents were Henry and Lucy Ann Merrell Wakefield.

Lorenzo Dow Wakefield, born July 27, 1833 had brothers/sisters:
  • Gardiner Wakefield
  • Charles H. Wakefield
  • Eliza Jane Wakefield
  • Clark Wakefield
  • George William Wakefield.
Their parents were George Wakefield (born Oct. 29, 1805, Oxford Co., Maine) and Eliza Clark (born 1805, Sanford, Maine)

These two families are related to each other. My question...is how????? The children are cousins to each other.

Also, Lula Jennings (died Jan. 5, 1887, Stockton, CA at age of 23 years, 9 months, 8 days) is a cousin to Lorenzo Dow Wakefield who moved from Brownfield, ME to California and died in Stockton, California. But how are they related to each other?? Thank you.		 09/10/06 Adine

06-25 Ela Seeking information on William Ela, father of John Ela, who is buried in Fryeburg. He was in Conway, NH from 1801 - 1805, but no other record has been found. Several Ela families relocated from Conway to Oxford County, ME sometime before 1850. Any information is greatly appreciated. 09/10/06 Vernon
06-24 Brooks, Mason Rufus Brooks was born about 1803 and is listed in the 1850 US Census. As the Census before 1850 did not list family members how can I go about finding out who the parents of Rufus Brooks were and information about them? Rufus was married to Lydia Mason (1827 in Porter) daughter of John Mason.

Rufus and Lydia's youngest son was Wilson George Brooks who went to Boston 1869, Quincy Il 1874 and Texas 1880 where my Grandfather was born. Wilson Brooks died Janusry 24, 1936 and is buried in Aransas Pass, Texas as is my Grandfather and my father. I am the 4th generation in Aransas Pass Texas and it all started in Porter, Oxford County Maine.		 09/10/06 Gerald

06-14 Anderson Looking for proof of Ralph Everett Anderson's birth in Fryeburg Me, May 8,1880; Ralph's mother was Elizabeth, who was married to Everett Anderson. I can't seem to find out if she died and if so where/when or if they divorced. I can only find her in the 1880 census. Don't know her maiden name either. 06-09 Bennett I am trying to locate death info for Amey Bennett, maiden name unknown. Her last live birth of record was Samuel R. Bennett 1880. In 1893 her daughter Addie filed marriage intentions with only her father's name; possible this because Amey was already deceased. Amey's son John married in 1911 and on his marriage cert it states Amey to be deceased, and no maiden name, unless of course it was Bennett. They had son Seth who married Philinda Rawson and is found on the 1830 census for Paris. The family is also found on later census records for Paris, Oxford Co. Maine. 06-02 Crockett, McAllister, Ordway, Steele I am searching for the parents of Elvira F. McAllister, who married Benjamin Crockett, 11 Feb 1850, in Oxford, Oxford Co., Maine. Elvira was born about 1828 according to the Federal Census. She is probably the grand-daughter or great-grand-daughter of Ananius/Angus McAllister who was born in Antrim, Ireland about 1742 and died in Stoneham or Lovell, Oxford Co., Maine about 1815. He is said to be buried in North Lovell. Angus McAllister is reputed to have had a dozen sons by two wives, Jenny Steele and Jane Mary Ordway. Most of these sons lived in Lovell and Stoneham, Maine. If anyone can identify the father of Elvira F. McAllister, I can figure the rest out. 03/31/06 Ed
06-01 Boynton, Durgin Looking for the birthdate, marriage and death of my gggrandfather Daniel Boynton. He was supposidly born in Fryeberg/Brownfield about 1836 if the Daniel I found on the 1850 census is my Daniel.
