Papua New Guinea is a country of four
and a quarter million people in the west Pacific. The three largest islands
are New Ireland, Bougainville and New Britain which are then split into
20 provinces. Three quarters of PNG is covered by tropical rainforests
and the remainder is made up of delta plains, flat grassland and mangrove
swamps. The population consists of melanesian's with only five percent
polynesian, micronesian, and chinese. There are over 750 indigenous languages
plus Pidgin and Motu. The main religious groups are Protestant, Catholic
and pantheist.
Each of the 20
provinces of PNG has its own provincial government.
