It houses the repertory Theater at Monmouth, Maine's Official Shakespearean Theater, the Charles M. Cumston Free Public Library, and is the center for local dramatic events year-round. This unique building, with the auditorium's unique acoustics, has attracted visitors from around the world, and was the set for an episode of the television series Route 66 with actress Joan Crawford.
