I believe the earliest ROSS in Harpswell was John Ross, probably lived in No Yarmouth prior to buying land in Harpswell in 1748. ORR William L. Warren Thur. Dec. 11, 1997 My paternal grandmother ,Dora Deering Orr Warren, was a direct descendant of Clement Orr who, with his, Joseph, founded Orr's Island in 1740. I am doing a genealogy of the Orr family and I will submit to you when completed. Although I have voluminous data about the Orrs, Iam missing vital statistics of Clement Orr. I know died on Orr's Is. and born in Ireland 1710-1719. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Saw a copy of it in my grandmothers attic, who passed over last summer. If I'm not mistaken, it was written by Yankee in there earlier days of printing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Their daughter Miriam WEBBER married Capt. William MCGRAY I, 1746, Harpswell. They had 3 children; Mary, Capt. John, and Capt. William II. William I died bet 1748 and Jun 1751, probaby in the Harpswell area. Miriam married 2nd, Edward CUNNINGHAM, Jun 1751, N, Yarmouth, Cumberland Co., ME, and they had the following known children; twins Daniel and Miriam in 1757. Any information you can share with me would be greatly appreciated.

LINSCOTT Jeff Linscott Sun Dec 29, 1996 Request correspondence with anyone who has information on the crew (names) of the privateer Dash, 1812-1815. I believe a family ancestor was on board during her loss in 1815, a Joseph TOTMAN, probably from Harpswell. As the ship was home-ported in Portland, and adopted by Freeport because so many of her crew were from there, thought someone here might be able to help. I have a bit of information on the ship herself, but not of her crew. Any help appreciated. Also seek any information on the family of Joseph TOTMAN and Elizabeth LINSCOTT, married 4 (or 14) Jan 1785 at Harpswell, ME. They had 6 children: Levi, Joseph (believed to be the one of the query above), Hannah, Mary, Elisha and William. I only have nore information on Levi. Would like info on rest of family. Jeff A. JOHNSON Sally Vaun Fri Nov 22, 1996 Information appreciated on BIBBER family of Portland, Cumberland First came a James IBBER/VIBERT to Harpswell, where he married an Abigail Drew. James supposedly came from the Isle of Jersey and changed his name from VIBERT to BIBBER. He first arrived in Dover, NH, then went to Me. One son,a James Bibber, b.1757 married Joanna BAILEY 8 Apr 1777, James died 1843 on Bustin's Island, son Joel Chandler BIBBER b. 7 July 1796 m. Hannah Bates JOHNSON, also of Harpswell. James VIBERT is the one I would really like to find more about, supposedly he was born abt. 1706 - came to Dover, NH to study weaving, returned to Isle of Jersey only to come back to Dover in 1728. This from Rev. Charles Sinnett who had ancestors in the Johnson line. He did not give ref. or sources and I am unable to find any except for record of his death.
