   John Lester Bailey, a prominent citizen of Andover, died Tuesday morning, February 1 [1930] at his home in South Andover after a few days illness.
   Mr. Bailey was born in Andover August 20, 1858, the son of the late John Haskell and Elizabeth Bailey.
   When a young man he spent a year in Aroostook County and also worked in Lowell, Mass., a few years. He returned to Andover and bought an interest in his father’s farm where he has since resided.   
   In 1885 he married Miss Emma Perkins, of Andover, who survives him, also two sons, Walter L. and Clarence, and a daughter, Sadie Mae, all living in Andover. A son, Howard, died in infancy. A sister, Mrs. Edith Farrar, resides in North Rumford.
    Mr. Bailey became a member of the Congregational Church December 27, 1883, of which church he has been clerk and Deacon for many years.
   He has served as member of the School Committee and also as ballot clerk for several terms. He was active in Grange work and a Charter member of Lone Mountain Grange of Andover, filling the Master’s chair for many terms; a member of New Century Pomona of which he was Master for a term and he also held other offices in that Pomona Grange.
   The funeral was held at the late home Thursday, February 13, at 11 o’clock. Rev. James Renfrew conducted the service. There was a large gathering of relatives, friends and members of Lone Mountain Grange.

   ANDOVER - Mrs. Mary Emma Bailey, 83, widow of John L. Bailey, died Friday [December 20, 1946] at her home at South Andover . She had been a resident here for 62 years.
   Born May 8, 1863 in Lynn , Mass. , she was the daughter of John W. and Mary P. Dunlap Perkins.
   She was a charter member of Lone Mountain Grange and a member of the Congregational Church and the Ladies Aid.
   Surviving are three children, Sadie M. Bailey, Walter L. and Clarence H., all of Andover; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
