"There is a court case in the New London County court records that references the birth of a “bastard” child to Marcy Walker. She claims the child is Zebadiah’s, who is the son of Thomas Gates and Margaret Geer. The court finds that Zebadiah is indeed the father and must pay child support. There is no mention of the child’s name other than the reference to the “bastard”. Given that Zebediah Gates who married Sarah Woodmansey was born in 1720, and his father’s first marriage was in 1727 to Jerusha Geer (his first cousin) it seems that this illeg child is Zebediah, born 1720 died 1783. This would complete the pedigree of
