From 2000 Oxford Queries:
Does anyone have any info. on James McAllister born: about 1826, Greenwood, Maine. married to Sophia Swan of paris. Married 7-22-1866. they lived in Franklin Plantation, at least for a while. Sons William and Levi, that I know of? thanks [email protected]

1860 USC for Franklin Plantation lists household:
James McAllister ae. 49
Sophia ae. 26
James ae 7
Mehitable ae. 2

How does Sabrina Canwell fit in here? Erroneous?

Philip McAllister wrote to me 12/13/01:
Now....James was born 1828. so , if He married sabrena 1861-It is likely
that Sabrena was his second wife and not the first as I had previously
thought.
I have James b. 1862 - Mehitable -Unsure of the birth and It is belived that
Edna/Elisa b. 1863 is James and Sabrenas. He married Sophia Swan in 1866
After he got out of the army (he served in the civil war and was discharged
for a wound .) They had : Lillian b. 1873 William Bert b. 1871 Levi b.
1870
Maud b. 1865 edith b. 1866. next he married : Sarah roberts Smith in
Conway N.H. Nov. 6 1879. She raised his younger children. So ...Sophia
died Quite Young too......I don't have a death date for her yet either.
James had nearly 20 years on Sabrena and Sophia = So I;m guessing He was
married before them. This keeps getting more interesting all the
time.
Thanks-Phil.

If it’s true that James Sr. had more children with Sabrina, perhaps they died young??
