Misc. Notes
I found a death certificate on
FamilySearch.org for a woman named Harriet A Andrews Demeritt (5 Jul 1832 - 15 Sep 1912) who lists her parents as “John” Andrews of “Maine” and Dolly Moore of Buckfield, ME. This leads to further discussion of whether John Andrews and Darius Andrews may have been the same person, or whether Darius also went by the name John.
Harriet would have been 18 for the 1850 census, when she appears in Dedham, MA; she marries George S. Demerritt, of Danvers, MA, in Roxbury, MA, 19 Oct 1854 and lived her life in Massachusetts. Her marriage record lists her father’s name as “Josiah” and her birthplace as Rumford, Maine.
Greg Childs, via email June 2014, thinks Harriet is indeed another child of Dorothy and Darius and the record is just incorrect.
UPDATE: Hello, Kathrine! I spent some hours today tidying up the Andrews family in the FamilySearch Family Tree and stumbled upon your recent article. Such a pleasure to see careful, thorough research of an Oxford County family! Soon after, I came across what appeared to be the death record of a daughter of Dolly C. Moore by her first husband, Samuel Dammon: Ann A. Shaw of Auburn, born 1829 in Rumford:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KCD2-D88I went looking for corroboration and found Ann's will, which mentioned her "beloved" siblings Freeland Q. Andrews and Hattie DeMerritt:

Thanks again, Chris! Terrific finds!
