(Obituary from the Rumford Falls Times, December 11, 1933)
Joseph Henry Abbott, aged 81, died Friday forenoon after a few days illness of pneumonia at the home of Mrs. Alice Crooker, East Andover, where he had boarded for a number of years. Mr. Abbott was born in North Rumford, Nov. 21, 1852, the son of Hezekiah and Martha Lovejoy Abbott. His wife, who was Kate Abbott, died in 1905. He lived for a number of years in South Andover where he was engaged in farming. Later, coming to Andover Village where he opened a grocery store on Main Street which he conducted until two years ago when ill health caused him to retire.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, children of his late sister, Mrs. Lucretia Abbott McCrillis.
