Misc. Notes
Moved to Rumford, and returned.
Holton Abbott, son of Phillip, took Lot 4, Range 1, West side, Andover, Oxford, Maine, USA (drawn by Mr Jonathan Stevens) cleared up and made a good farm, put up pretty good buildings. He was a prosperous good farmer, but not a great financier, He lived here until 18__ and then sold his farm and moved to Rumford, Oxford, Maine, USA with part of his family and lived there a few years on Hall"s Hill, so called, sold out there and came back to this town and bought Lot 6, Range, 1 West side of Oliver Strickland, and lived there until his death --by being thrown from his wagon and receiving internal injuries. His wife, Polly Farrington, survived several years and died on the farm with her son Philip Holton Abbott, Mr Holton Abbott Sr. and wife were happy and congenial in their feelings with their family and friends. He always had a pleasant word for all and was much respected, but took little interest in town business or politics. His son, John Farrington Abbott, lived mostly with his parents during his minority, then left and went to Boston, but lived a short time after going there. He was the smartest boy to work, play, and scuffle that I ever knew. Was industrious and kind in his feelings. Over-exertion in wrestling and scuffling was the cause of his death. His daughter, Sarah Pillsbury Abbott was an old maid, having never married. She made her home with her brother Phillip's family since the death of her parents but health, as is usually the case with old maids (1883). (Copied from The Andover Memorials by Agnes Blake Poor).
