Mary Newton Akers had several children, but when she died Mr. Akers “put out 4 of his children, and [gave] away the two youngest.” He left town for a few years, but then returned and remarried. He got some of his boys home and was doing a good business at farming when his wife became discontented and left him and went to Lewiston where she opened a boarding house. He had to follow her, which broke up his home here. The boarding house failed and he returned to Andover. His second wife never came back to him.
