Civil War service: Learned, Peter W.: Born March 8, 1845. Buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Section B, Lot 191. He enlisted in the Army Oct.15, 1862, at Andover, and was discharged July 17, 1863 with the rank of Private. His war record lists Co. K, 27th Regt., Infantry Me. Vol.

Peter W. Learned, [son of Sylvanus and Nancy learned] a lifelong resident of Andover until this winter, passed away Saturday [March 20, 1926] at the home of his son, Henry Learned, at North Newry. Mr. Learned was 81 years of age this month and was a veteran of the Civil War. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George Kimball of Rumford Center and Miss Flora Akers of Augusta, also two sons, Mr. Webster Learned of Rumford and Henry of North Newry.

Mrs. Ellen Morse Learned, wife of Peter Learned, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 8 [1925] after a lingering illness. She was nearly 76 years old.
Mrs. Learned was born in Andover, a daughter of the late David and Sarah Morton Morse, and in early womanhood married Peter Learned.
For many years they have lived in the village where Mrs. Learned has had an active part in the social life. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Mrs. George Kimball of Rumford Center and Flora Learned of this town, and two sons, Webster Learned of Rumford and Henry Learned of North Newry. Also a brother, Frank Morse of Denmark, ME, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Learned of Andover and Mrs. Jane Lincoln of Manchester, N.H.
Four other children have died, Mrs. Cora Small, wife of Pearl Small. Annie, wife of Ora Hewey, Hattie, wife of Nathan Akers and Sylvanus Learned of Andover.
