WILLIAM NELSON was one of the purchasers of Middleborough, MA in 1662. Wm. Nelson, an original proprietor of the town of Middleborough, and also a Pilgrim of the ship, "Fortune", who came to Plymouth in 1621, whose wife was Martha Ford, the first girl born in Plymouth. The child was named for her mother, Widow Martha Ford, who also came on the Fortune, and who married subsequently Peter Brown of the Mayflower. Wm. Nelson was in the Plymouth Military co., in 1643.
