Nicholas Snow was one of those who arrived at Plymouth in the "Anne" in the year 1623, he received a share of land in Plymouth in 1624, and was married before 1627. He became a freeman and taxpayer of Plymouth in 1633, and for a number of years was a man of note in that place. In April 1644, he with six other prominent men of Plymouth began the Settlement of Eastham (Nauset) across the bay from Plymouth, and from the beginning became an important person in that place. He was a deputy and selectman for a number of years. In 1646, it was enacted by the Court that every Town within the Government 'shall have a clerk, or some one appointed to keep a register of the day and year of the marriage, birth, and burial of every man, woman and child within the Township.' Eastham immediately appointed NICHOLAS SNOW to this important office, and he held the place with honor for sixteen years, and his son MARK SNOW succeeded him."(Bacon and Allied Families, page 360)

He first settled in Plymouth and married there. In 1633 he was a freeman and taxpayer in Plymouth. The next year he was appointed with Edward Bangs to lay out roads in Plymouth. In 1636 he was one of the arbitrators who settled a difficulty between Joseph Beadle and Edward Dowty. In 1638 he was one of the jurors investigating the death of John England, a boy found dead on Plymouth flats. In 1640 he was a surveyor of highways in Plymouth. In 1645, with Governor Prence, Josiah Cooke, and 4 others, he moved to Nausett as one of the first 7 settlers there. When it became a municipality, he was its town clerk until 1663, when his son Mark succeeded him. In 1647 he was a surveyor of highways in Eastham, in 1648 a deputy to the Colony court, and in 1668, 1671, 1672, 1674, and 1675, a selectman. He was Deputy to Court, and saw military service. He was a large landowner, with land in Harwich, Eastham, and Truro. In his will he left a small sum to the Eastham church towards furnishing "the furniture of the table of the Lord with pewter or otherwise". Sons Mark, Joseph, and Stephan inherited his landed estate in Satucket (now Harwich); John inherited that in Paomet (now Truro); and Jabez inherited that in Eastham, including the homestead. His "moveable goods" were divided equally among his children when wife Contance died.
