The family tradition is that is was properly spelled Faust, and that the ancestor, or ancestors, came from Germany, and settle d in Rye, NH. John, was received an inhabitant at Dover, 19, 1 mo., 1665-6; took the oath 21 June, 1669; juryman, 1667-9, 1671, 1688; was taxed at Cochecho 1665 to 1667. He had a son John.
