Merrill Chase married (I) Sally Tucker, March 3, 1796, and moved from Minot, Maine, to No. 3 Plantation (Woodstock), in 1802, with his brother Stephen, and settled on an adjoining lot. He succeeded his brother as Clerk of the town, and was a prominent man in town affairs for many years. He died in Paris, ME, January 17, 1860.
