Misc. Notes
Notes for EMANUEL BUCK:
He was a Miller and a Farmer. Also served in the military. It is said
that the Puritans objected to his name Emanual, it's meaning "God with
us" as being too sacred. To please them, he took the name Enoch. He
later ran a sawmill. Admitted as a freeman 21 May 1659. He was a juror
in 1661, 62 and 75. He was a grand juror in 1675, constable in 1668 and
selectman in 1669. In the year 1680 he was chosen by the townspeople
to dig all the graves. He was allowed 4s for the graves of "grown"
people and 3s each for all other graves. (Fred Johnson [via John McCormick?])
