Jonathan and his wife Elizabeth were born on the same day.
Jonathan saw active servce from August 1, 1757 until July 3, 1778. He was a private in Capt. Theophilus Curtis's company, Col. Samuel Miller's regiment, comprising the train band and alarm list dated Stoughton, Norfolk Co., Mass., August 1, 1757. He was a sergeant, Capt. Moses Curtis's company, Col. Samuel Miller's regiment; entered service from Stoughton, April 2, 1759, age 30; served until February 10, 1760 (service: 11 months, 7 days). On January 1, 1760, he was in service in Nova Scotia in Col. Frye's regiment. Also, as a private, marched 38 miles in 2 days with Capt. Peter Talbot's company on alarm of April 19, 1775, from Stoughton. Commissioned first lieutenant on January 31, 1778, he served in Capt. Joseph Richard's 10th company, Col. Gill's 3rd Suffolk Co. regiment. As a second lieutenant (commissioned March 27, 1778), he served in Capt. Benjamin Laphams's company, Col. Jonathan Reed's regiment.
