Misc. Notes
Listed on 1790 USC for Winthrop, Lincoln [now Kennebec] Co., Maine, with several other Wings, as well as John Canwell (spelled Canwill).
A careful study of the data, traditions and facts furnished us by various members of the family descended from Reuben Wing, father of Stephen L., George W., Augustus A., Pliny, Elbridge and Reuben, Jr., has convinced us that he was not the founder of that branch of the family in Maine, as stated at page 949. We conclude that he was the son of Stephen Wing.
The name of the wife of Reuben Wing, the founder, has been variously given to us as Johanna Flanders, Cordelia Londross, and as Rebecca. Now comes Mrs. Matilda A. Pratt, a granddaughter of Reuben, and says that her grandmother was Huldah Burgess, whom her grandfather married in Wayne, and that she personally knew her grandmother [CI:3588:?4:CI].

The old family Bible that contains the names and birthdays of all of Pliny B Wing’s and Lois Elmira Howard Wing’s children has been passed down to Clark Aldrich Wing, thence to Clark Winfred Wing, thence Harold Wing, custodian.
This old family Bible is a very important record in Wing Family History, for it settles, once and for all times, the true maiden name of Pliny Wing’s mother--Joanna Landers Wing. Pliny and Lois named their third child Joanna Landers Wing, after her grandmother and it is so recorded in the Bible.
Not only does it have a direct interest to all the descendants of Reuben Wing, Pioneer, of Franklin Plantation, and his wife Joanna, but it is of interest to all the descendants of Reuben’s brother, Shubael Wing, and his first wife Abigail Landers, who now rests peacefully in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wayne in the same burial lot where Shubael and Reuben’s mother Priscilla Wing is buried. The cemetery is the oldest one in Wayne, and was known previous to 1820 as Job Fuller’s Burying Ground.
1850 USC for Franklin Plantation lists Reuben Wing ae. 73; wife Joanna ae. 70; daughter Villetta S. ae. 33.
Another take:
Reuben Wing married his wife in or near Boston, it is uncertain just where. They moved to Colebrook, N.H., and then moved to Wayne, Maine. They had two or three children soon after they moved to Franklin Plantation. [CI:3585:?4:CI]
Daughter Bethiah’s birth recorded in Livermore vital records:
