Samuel’s descent from Ephraim is questioned by some genealogists. One source has death as Dec. 1765 in Killingly, CT.

“There were two Samuel Bucks living in Woburn in the early 1700s. One was married to Hannah and was the father of Zebediah Buck and the other was married to Abigail Wyman and Sarah Walker. Many genealogists tend to combine them into one family, but it is very clear from the vital records that they are two different Samuel Bucks. The main problem is that some genealogists say that Samuel with wife Hannah is the son of Ephraim, and some say that the other Samuel is. The Buck family genealogy by Elizabeth Richards (which appears to be well-researched) says that Samuel, [husband] of Hannah is the son of Ephraim, but I don’t have access to enough resources at this time to know for sure if this genealogy is correct. It does appear that the land that Ephraim passed on to his sons Ephraim and Samuel in Woburn eventually became part of the town of Wilmington, and it appears that the children of both Ephraim and Samuel were living in Wilmington in the 1730s & 1740s after Wilmington was incorporated. The other Samuel appears to have been still living in Woburn in 1730. The other (rather weak) link that I’ve found is that Samuel and Hannah named their second daughter Sarah (their first daughter was named Hannah), perhaps after Samuel’s mother. The other Samuel only named a daughter Sarah after he married his second wife who was named Sarah. Neither of the Samuels named a son Ephraim. It would be nice to do a deed search to see if this could be confirmed, but at this time I don’t have access to Middlesex deeds.”
