Lunt, Micajah b: Sept 2, 1763 Newburyport, MA - d: Jan 6, 1828 DI - 🇺🇸⚓️Revolutionary War - h/o Mary Small - s/o Lunt.
Micajah was a Pvt. in the Revolutionary War. (Hosmer’s Historical Sketch of DI says, he was in the U.S. Navy.) A Gov’t marker was obtained and set here in 1999 by descendants Willard “Sonny” Stinson and his wife, Ann, and Ruth (Small) Harris and Leroy Small.

The following is from an article in the “Deer Isle Messenger” dated June 1903. The article was written by Phenie Bray (daughter of Benjamin F. Small and Elvira Downs, wife of Thomas Bray.)
“. . . an old burying ground called the “Packard” lot, which is now owned by Edward Small. Many people are buried here, including a Mr. Emerson who may have been the first. Also buried here are the three children of William Webb, Deer Isle town Treasurer. Also Micajah Lunt and wife* Mary, who were the parents of Sarah
“Sally” Lunt (Mrs Avery Fifield).”
There are more than thirty graves here. *Mary (Small) Lunt is in the Matthews Cemetery, Fifield Point, Burnt Cove, along with her daughter, Sarah “Sally” Fifield;
Micahjah Lunt, husband of Mary Small, eldest daughter of Thomas Small, Sr. & Sarah Roberts.
Lunt was a Pvt. in the Continental army. (Hosmer’s Historical Sketch of DI, says he was in the U.S. Navy.) A Gov't marker was obtained in 1999 by Willard “Sonny” Stinson and his wife Ann. The marker was placed at the gravesite on the SW side of Crocketts Cove.
Wife Mary lived 20 years after Micahjah’s death in 1828. She is buried in the Matthew’s cemetery, located at Fifield Point, Burnt Cove, Stonington. She is listed below for information purposes only:
