Gordon. He married Mary Glidden in the first church of Kingston on
December 28, 1756 by Rev. Joseph Secomb. Mary's was Deborah Bean
(another old central Maine family). They settled in that part of Chester
that later (1764) became Raymond where Ithial served as tax collector 1769-71
& again in 1773. He also was selectman 1778-79. In 1778 he enlisted
3 yrs. in Capt. Roswell's Co. He rebuilt the Dudley Bridge in Raymond for
$104.00. In 1769 the widow Jenkins taught school in Raymond, and boarded

her.By the time of our nation’s Revolution Ithial and Mary had born 11
or 12 children. He served in the French & Indian War and the War of
Independence, then c1783 brought his family to East Readfield where
they settled on Lot#124. In 1819 Ithial sold 50 acres of his lot to son,
Daniel. In 1800-1802 Ithial was constable in Readfield. Future generations
of this family resided on the homestead on the Belgrade Road (Route 135).
Among those who resided here were Daniel, Stephen, William, F. Lewis, and
