Pratt who was an officer in the Civil War. I obtained the photo from the Maine State Archives. I will gladly share it with those who may be interested. I also have many photos of Ezra Pratt and his children I will share. Also if anyone has personal history of William Horace Pratt and Sarah Beal, I would love to hear from them. I am age 63, but they would have been my great grandparents. Ezra was sixty-four when my mother Grace was born in Southport, ME in 1924. Sharon Oliver Knape [email protected]

QUERY: I am looking for information about ALBERT H. IRVING, specifically, and about any of his ancestors, generally. He was born in Oxford, Maine, probably about 1855 - 1860. He married, probably about 1875, near or in Otisfield or Oxford, Flora Belle (or some variation of this spelling) Scribner, b. Otisfield, Me. February 14, 1859 to Andrew Jackson Scribner and Ruth Cobb, who were married in Otisfield August 28,1852. It is my understanding that Albert lived and worked in Oxford his entire life, working at the Oxford Woolen Mills as a supervising weaver. He and his wife divorced shortly after their daughter, Flora Etta, was born in 1876. Flora Belle remarried to a Lincoln, although I don't know when. Albert may or may not have remarried. He was listed in the 1906 census for Oxford, but not listed as a guest in his granddaughter's newspaper wedding article in 1921 - this may or may not be relevant to his death date.
My grandmother, Flora Etta's daughter, remembered that Albert had been killed as a result of injuries sustained after being thrown from a horse. There are Irving's all over Maine/Nova Scotia/Canada, but I have found no leads whatsoever as to Albert's life or parentage. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks, Mary Winslow [email protected]

QUERY: Researching SMITH's in the Oxford area. They are a tough bunch and I need help with the following: Samuel Smith m Eva E Smith, dau. of Franklin Smith and Harriet Blake of Oxford ,abt 1883. They resided at Oxford,Otisfield and Buckfield and had Lucella b 1884, Eben b 1886, a girl b 1888, Samuel Ralph b 1890 and Eva b 1891. Samuel worked as brakeman for the Buckfield-Rumford Falls RR at his death in1891. The mother Eva died in 1893 and the children were split up. Lucella went to the Merrill Brackett's at Oxford, became their heir and took the name Brackett at age eighteen. Eben went to the Oxford Poor Farm for 10 years until entering US Navy just before 17th bithday. The middle girl went to Mrs Annie Chaplin, who may have given her the name Annie and probably adopted her. Mrs Chaplin became Mrss Knights and after her death in 1903 the girl Annie is believed to have lived or been adopted by a Bonney family. She used Bonney as her maiden name as an adult. Samuel Ralph was raised in the home of Fredrick H York of Hartford,Turner and Jay. Nothing is known abt the baby Eva. Love to exchange info if any one has knowledge of this family. Also needed is info on burial of Franklin Smith.,who was son of Henry Smith and Dolly McAllister, b New Vineyard 1828, m Harriet Blake 1848 Portland, a Civil War veteran who lived at Oxford and died there 4 Mar 1901. Have been unable to find his gravesite. Harriet Blake,w/o Franklin Smith, res Oxford when she signed a deed in 1875 for prop in Oxford. No further records for her have been found and Franklin married as a 2nd wife Arvilla Robinson at Oxford. What happened to Harriet? Did she die? When? Where? Or did she and Franklin divorce? Any records? Neither Harriett nor her 13 year old daughter EVA appear in the Oxford 1880 census or in nearby towns. Would greatly appreciate any help or clues.
