Tapley School, Atwood School, Williams Elementary School,
Messalonskee Middle School and Messalonskee High School

John S. Tapley School

The Tapley School was built 1938, and closed as a school building in 2000 due to air quality issues.  It has been renovated for school department offices.

Tapley School
The closing of the Tapley School resulted in the "Tapley Trailer Park", moving the entire student body into portable classrooms.  Construction of the Atwood addition and the new Messalonskee Middle School have eliminated all portables.
Ralph M. Atwood School

The Ralph M. Atwood School was built in 1956, enlarged 1975 and 2001.  It presently houses Oakland's grades K-2.

Milton LaForest Williams Elementary School
Built as Williams High School, 1924, enlarged 1949 and 1962, became a junior high in 1969.  It was renovated and enlarged 1987, and is now home to Oakland and Rome's 3rd through 5th graders.
