| Rocky Hill Cemetery is on Rocky Hill on River Road on private property. Formerly part of the McManus farm, the wooded graveyard currently has two headstones with multiple names. In early 2002, a McManus descendant took on the task of trimming out deadwood and saplings, straightening stones, and building a simple fence. In 2010, McManus family members shared with this webmaster that some of the information in the following document by Bernice Simpson regarding removal and reburials is incorrect. | The following undated transcriptions of Rocky Hill Cemetery are from the records of Bernice Simpson.
Located: on Rocky Hill River Road, on-half way up... near old apple tree. Brunswick, Cum. Co. Me. Many stones fallen over and could not be located beneath thick bramble bushes. Several bodies and stones were moved from this yard to Riverside Cemetery, Brunswick, Me. [2010, McManus Family says this information regarding removal of bodies to Riverside Cemetery is incorrect. Information within [ ] was kindly added by the McManus family in 2010.]
McManusJohn, d. 7 May 1843, 84 yrs.[He was born in Ireland in 1760, so was actually 83 when he died. He served in the Revolutionary War and was wounded at Cherry Valley, N.Y. He received a pension for life and we have been told that there is a copy on file at the Curtis Memorial Library. Until the early 1900's, the McManus family owned all of the land on Rocky Hill, all the way to the top of the hill.] Eliza[beth], his wife, d. 7 Jul 18[4]4, 84 yrs. [Born 1760.] 2nd stone: [Harvey B.
