The Sprague Journal was published 1913-1926. The Late Elizabeth Ring of the Maine Historical writes
"For fourteen years, John Francis Sprague, legally trained and a resident of Piscataquis County, had his Journal furnished an outlet for his own work in Maine history and that of a dozen other contributors in the field whose work but for Sprague would never have been published"
The statement that the work has been presevered thanks to John Francis Sprague might be more of a true statement. We will post any Maine genealogical information that we feel is worth its space. Thanks to Mr. Sprague's Journal we have his contributors' information that he preserved for us. We now can share most of it with the world.
On the sad note it was in 1926, that John Francis Sprague, editor & publisher of Sprague's Journal of Maine History took his own life.
Please let us know if you would like us to put online any of the pre- 1922 published work. Anything after 1922, we will have to ask the heirs or asigns of the late John Francis Sprague for permission. Anyone willing to do lookups please let us known
