Article 9)
- To determine what measure the town (Augusta) will adopt relative to recieving its prortion of the surplus Revenue as awarded to this state by Congress of the Unite States and purance of the laws of this State.
- on page 128
- Voted John Potter, Augusta Town treasurer, be appointed the Agent to sign a receipt therefore confirmabley to the requirements of said Act of this State which shall be obligating upon this town.

Book 2 page 132

Under Article (9)
Voted a Committee be raised consisting of a member from each school District in (Augusta) to take into consideration the subject of the disposition of the town (Augusta) proportion of the surplus Revenue. Committee was:

They then voted to use the interest off the $1374.22 to support the public schools.

Town Meeting Book #2 page 185

In 1839, voted that the Selectman of Augusta, the town Treasurer and Town Agent consitute a board for the purpose of examining and deciding the claims of individuals applying for their proportion of the surplus revenue who were not included in the (Special) Census of 1 Mar 1837.
