Previous designations: Hampden Academy Grant plus east part of Monroe Gore and the south part of Nelson Tract.
Settled 1825 and incorporated on 17 Mar 1835 as the 325th town.
Part set off to Danforth on 4 March 1885 and part of Bancroft annexed on 26 Feb 1907.
