1837 Census of Mount Chase, Penobscot Co., Maine (Township 5 Range 6)

Mount Chase is a town in Penobscot County, which bounds 6R6 wels, Hersey, Patten, 5R7. Previous designation was 5R6 Wels, Monterey. Settled in 1838 (sic) (N.B. the first settler, Thomas Myrick was counted in the 1837 Census of what is now Mount Chase). Mt. Chase was incorporated 21 Mar 1864 as the 415th town in Maine. Incorporation repealed 22 March 1935. Principal settlement is Shin Pond.
