Mapleton is a town in Aroostook County, which bounds on Washburn, Presque Isle, Chapman, and Castle Hill. Previous designation was 12R3 Wels, Settled 1842 (sic) (N.B. One person was there in 1837) Mapleton was incorporated on 5 March 1880.
