Piscataquis Co, Maine

Bowerbank, Piscataquis Co., bounds 7R9 NWP, Barnard, Sebec, Dover-Foxcroft, Willimantic. Previous designation was 7R8 NWP. It was settled in 1825 and later incorporated on 4 Mar 1839 as the 343rd town in Maine. The incorporated was repealed on 15 Feb 1869 and again reorganized on 27 Nov 1888 as a plantation. On 28 Feb 1907 was incorporated as the 473rd town of Maine.

Ira Pitman of Bangor, Maine enumerated the 1837 Census of an area which we believe became the town of Bowerbank, Maine. The description was " all parts of Penobscot west of the Penobscot River and north of the towns organized plantations, Piscataquis River with the exceptions of settlement in the West branch of Penobscot River."
