RICHARDSON posted by David Richardson on Monday, July 16, 2007

I am looking for information on John W. RICHARDSON, born August 1842. His wife, Susan, was born September 1845. Children: William Columbus, Henry H., Charity T., Louisa B., Upsher, and Maggie. I have been unable to locate John W. in Somerset County in the 1850 census, but in expanding my search to include Worcester County, I found a John W. RICHARDSON (age 7) in the 1850 census, in Worcester County District 7 (Atkins District), which it my best hunch so far. If anyone has any information about any of these individuals I would appreciate it.

BRUFF, FOSSETT, HORSEY, SCOTT, WHITE posted by Kenneth H. Folse on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Still seeking to identify the parents of Thomas BRUFF, who married Elizabeth (Betty?) WHITE, widow, on August 23, 1761 in Coventry Parish, Rehobeth, Somerset, Maryland. Thomas died intestate between April 08, 1790 and December 17, 1793 in Somerset County, probably at Caldicutt, his estate/plantation. Thomas is believed to have been a planter, but silversmith tools were listed in the inventory of his estate. This fact, plus a silver ladle with the makers mark \"T Bruff\" that has been passed down from generation to generation in the family, suggest that at some point in his life he was a silversmith, probably a descendant of goldsmith Charles BRUFF of London, whose son Thomas BRUFF (1648-1702), emigrated to Maryland about 1665 and worked as a silversmith and innkeeper in Talbot County. Thomas's wife, Elizabeth WHITE, is believed to have been the Elizabeth SCOTT who married Stevens WHITE before she married Thomas. If so, she is the daughter of John and Elizabeth SCOTT. Thomas and Elizabeth were the parents of James BRUFF (1762 - 1803), John BRUFF (1764 - ?), Ann BRUFF (1767 - ?), Thomas BRUFF (1770 - ?), Susannah BRUFF (1772 - ?), Joseph BRUFF (1775 - ?), Richard BRUFF (1778 - ?) and Benjamin BRUFF (1781 - ?). James BRUFF (1762 - 1803 married Zipporah (Japporah?) HORSEY (1764 - 1816), daughter of Revell HORSEY and Sarah FOSSETT of Somerset County. (Update of January 12, 2003 posting)
