STERLING posted by Wallace Sterling on Monday, September 11, 2006

My late father, Wallace STERLING (Sr) was born in Crisfield; he passed away in Florida in 1960. We have been trying to complete the family history but it seems his father was adopted, not through the court or legal process. Thus, we have reached a dead end, so far. I know many STERLINGs still live in Crisfield, according to some web searches. If anyone has any information to assist us, please send me an email. Thanks.

JAMES, LANDON posted by Carolyne Landon on Monday, October 9, 2006

Emily JAMES, 1836, is my gggrandmother. She married Ezekiel LANDON, second marriage. Noted by her name on a genealogy chart is a note that Henry James married Honor, a Nanticoke Indian, in 1680. I've found documentation of this marriage. Now I'm trying to trace Emily JAMES' family.

ELZEY, JONES posted by David G. Smith on Saturday, November 4, 2006

Searching for the parents of Arnold ELZEY (1816- 1871). Confederate General Arnold ELZEY JONES 1816-1871] stopped using Jones as his last name after graduating from West Point in 1837. He served in the U.S. Army in the Seminole and Mexican Wars, and was brevetted for gallantry. In April 1861, he resigned and entered the Confederate service, with the rank of colonel. After the war, he retired to his farm in Maryland. Any help appreciated.

COVEY posted by Jo Johnston on Sunday, February 11, 2007

Seeking any information on Richard COVEY of Somerset Co. In March 1688, 100 acres called "Covy Purchase" lying in Perhawkins beginning at a mark White Oak near the southern most side of a branch of Dividing Creek was surveyed for him. Is this the same Richard found in Dorchester Co. in 1772? Would like to find where he was prior to Somerset Co. and where he finally settled. I have found no record on him in Somerset Co. other than the land survey.

GRIFFIN, JONES, WALTER posted by Cheryl Bennett Vikaros on Sunday, February 11, 2007

I am searching for Henry JONES who was in the 1880 census with his wife Mary Jane WALTER on Deal Island. Both were born c. 1858. They were living with a George GRIFFIN. Their marriage was 11 Sept 1877 in Somerset. Some of their children were born or baptized on Hollands Island. I'm assuming the others were baptized on Deal Island. Their children included Harry S. (1880), George H. (1882), Edgie Roland (1884), Taylor (c.1886), Mary Aurilla (1884), Ronia (c. 1890) and Ella M. (1887). As storms damaged the island they moved to Accomack, VA. Her father might be George B. WALTER but I have no idea as to his parents. The Miles Files of Accomack list Henry as a William H. JONES. All my research has only found him as Henry.
