I am interested in finding out more about my paternal grandmother's family. Her name was Iris Pearl TYLER. She married my grandfather, John DANIELS. A longtime resident of Crisfield, her father was Alexander Tyler and her mother was Bertha Bird. I think her dates are 1911-1984. Any information would be most helpful.

HANDY, JONES posted by Lee Freeman on Thursday, July 15, 2004

Looking for any information on a freed slave named James HANDY, of Princess Anne or Baltimore, his wife Nancy JONES, or their son, William WISE HANDY (ca.1811-1873). Said James and Nancy HANDY were the great grandparents of William Christopher, W. C. HANDY, the famous African-American musician known as the Father of the Blues. The couple allegedly received their freedom before the American Revolution. However, their son, William Wise, was a slave who ran away from his Princess Anne plantation with his two brothers via the Underground Railroad, but Willliam W. was captured and sold into slavery in Franklin County, AL, to Bernard McKiernan's (ca. 1785-1858) Spring Hill Plantation. Any information greatly appreciated.

I descend from Elizabeth BOLLING Mays, whose parents may have been Benjamen and Mary Latham Bolling of Stafford County Virginia.

BOZMAN, NUTTER posted by Gale Shockley on Thursday, November 25, 2004

I am trying to help a friend find some information about her great grandparents, George Alfred BOZMAN and Sally NUTTER BOZMAN. I did find him listed at the age of 8 in Dames Quarter. Past 8 years old, I haven't found a thing. I found a Sarah NUTTER BOZMAN as being buried in Dorchester County. Could this Sarah be Sally? Maybe Sarah is a formal name for Sally? Any help would be appreciated. My friend lives in Alaska. I know she would be pleased to find out about her great grandparents.

ALEXANDER, TAYLOR posted by Dennis Simpson on Sunday, November 28, 2004

I am wondering if anyone might be able to help me. For 30 years I have been trying to locate parents for the seven ALEXANDER brothers and their two sisters, who migrated from County Donegal, Ireland to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Somerset County. I descend from Samuel ALEXANDER (1657-1727) and his wife Mary TAYLOR. Any hard evidence to prove William ALEXANDER was their father would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to find any evidence to prove he was. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
