BENSON, BENSTON, CALDWELL, NOBEL posted by Bill Oliver on Sunday, March 28, 2004

Earliest known BENSTON / BENSON in Somerset Co., MD is Francis [wife Mary], their son John [wife Margaret CALDWELL] and their grandson, George [wife Rebecca NOBEL] during the last half of the 1600s and early 1700s. This branch migrated to Augusta, VA and probably Delaware in the early 1700s. I would like also to establish Levin BENSON as a member of this family. LOWE, PHILLIPS, WALLER, WILSON posted by Ben MacDonald on Thursday, April 1, 2004

I am very interested in a positive identification of the line of the parents of Eliza WALLER who married William A.R. PHILLIPS. Eliza was born 10 Oct 1812 in Somerset. I have come across some references to Eliza as a dau ofJohnathan WALLER II and wife, Rachel WILSON. Sisters were Nancy and Mary Ann Catherine. Online references show Johnathan WALLER II as a son of Jonathan WALLER and Phyliss LOWE. Can anyone help me substantiate that??

In 1776, Daniel ROWAN was first found on the Frederick County , MD List of the George Town Hundred." The listing was: August 22, 1776, Oath of Allegiance, age 22, (born in Ireland). His name was was written ROWEN." In 1779, Daniel married Sarah BOSLEY, who was born in MD in 1765, daughter of James BOSLEY and Rachel GORSUCH. In the mid-1780s Daniel and Sarah ROWAN lived in Davidson County, NC. He was very active according to the county court records, buying and selling property. An interesting event among these were that William ROWAN of Somerset Co, MD, gave Power of Attorney to Daniel ROWAN of Davidson County , NC to settle debts for him (August 3, 1790) . Daniel and Sarahs children were Thomas (oldest son), Beal , Lani, Mary, Jane J., James J.( Sarahs fathers name), Lion (John Rowans daughter married ), and William (brother). Thomas was executor to Sarahs will with his sister, Mary Rowan. Family stories say that the Rowans came from Gavon, Lanarshire, Scotland. I am looking for Daniel's father.

COX, PURNELL, WEBSTER posted by JoLynne Vincent on Friday, May 7, 2004

I am looking for information on my gg grandmother, Hester WEBSTER, born 1828 in Somerset County, Md. She married James E. COX, born 1832 in Crisfield, Md. They were married on January 9, 1857 and were listed together on the 1860 census. My Great Grandmother, Clara Jane COX, was born on May 17, 1862 and I believe that Hester died either during Clara's childbirth or shortly after as James married Margaret J. PURNELL on April 14, 1863. COVENTON, COVINGTON posted by Robin Goodwin Duhs on Sunday, June 27, 2004

Henry (Hampton) COVINGTON (Thomas-2>Nehemiah-1); mother Rachel Ingram. Henry had two wives: Mary Blakiston and Sarah Hawkins. Has any one found a document that establishes which wife was first? Was it Mary? Henry had many children, but which children are the children of Mary and Sarah? Many family trees have them listed with one or the other. William b. 1720 was Henry's son but was his mother Mary or Sarah? Thanks for any help sorting out children of Mary and Sarah.
