COLLINS, ROBINSON posted by Ronald B. Collins Sr. on Friday, March 7, 2003

I am trying to find my great grandfather, Charles Emory COLLINS. I am not sure whether or not he and my great grandmother were married, but her name was Nellie ROBINSON. My Grandfather, George Levin COLLINS was born in Eden, Somerset County, in 1887. I am assuming that Charles COLLINS also lived in Eden at the time of my grandfather's birth. I have looked in all available places to get a lead to no avail. Do you have any suggestions? Oh, by the way, can you refer me to a reliable historical source on slavery in Somerset and Worchester County and where some of the slave records would be? Thanks.

MAGEE, MAGGEE, MAGHEE posted by John E. MaGee on Friday, April 11, 2003

We have traced our ancestor Patrick MAGEE (MAGHEE, MAGGEE) back to Old Rappahannock County, Virginia in the 1690's and early 1700's. We have not been able to establish where and when he first arrived in the United States from Ireland. Recent work suggests he may have come to Virginia from Somerset County, Maryland sometime between 1674 and 1700. Somerset County records show a Patrick, Henry and Edmond Magee coming to St. Mary's on the ship Batchelor of Bristoll in 1674. Other records show a George Magee arriving in Maryland (Somerset County?) in 1682. Birth records of Somerset County show a Samuel, Thomas and Peter Magee being born to George and Maudlin Magee between 1686 and 1691. The son of our Virginia Patrick Magee had sons named Samuel and Thomas. Does anyone have family history or family tree information on any of these Somerset county Magees?

MOUNTS, NUTTER, STEWART posted by Sarah Cosby on Tuesday, May 6, 2003

I am trying to find more about the ancestors of Lillian (Lilly) E. STEWART (22 May 1863 - 17 Aug 1929). She is buried in Somerset County at Quinton Cemetary in Costen. Lillian married Sylvanius James NUTTER (1866 - 1925) on March 13,1882. Sylvanus was the son of John NUTTER and Mary MOUNTS. Sylvanus and Lillian had several children, including Ernest Orin NUTTER, who was born in 1887. Any information about Lillian STEWART's ancestors would be appreciated. I wonder if they can be traced back to Scotland. Also, what were the names of the other children? Thanks.
