EVANS, RANKIN, SCHOOLFIELD, WHARTON posted by Lloyd Schoolfield on Thursday, May 17, 2001

I am searching for the ancestors of gggg- grandfather, John SCHOOLFIELD (b. abt. 1775 in ? - d. 1838 in Guilford County, NC). His mother was Angeletta EVANS Schoolfield Wharton, and he came to Guilford County, NC in 1787 with his mother and stepfather, Watson WHARTON. Watson Wharton's first wife was Martha Evans (unknown if she was Angeletta's sister.) John Schoolfield married Nancy Agness RANKIN in 1799 in Guilford County. I don't known where John was born, or who his father was. Watson Wharton was from Sussex County, Delaware by way of Worcester County, Maryland. So it is assumed that John's parents lived in the area, and that his father died prior to 1787. If anyone has any information that would help me in my search, please respond. I'm at a dead end and don't know where else to turn. Thank you very much.

JONES, PRICE, TYLER posted by Diana Thompson on Saturday, May 19, 2001

Looking for information on Paul Harrison TYLER born in Somerset County 3 Jan 1872. Especially looking for info on his parents, William Wallace TYLER (born 14? Oct 1843) and Hester Ann JONES (born 3 Mar 1846?). William's father, I have been told, was William Severn TYLER (born 11 Feb 1816, died 22 Sep 1873), whose wife was Leah Jane PRICE (born 3 Jul 1822, died 10 May 1881). Have found William Wallace TYLER in some census reports, but William Severn TYLER seems to be a big mystery. I believe William Severn TYLER and a brother by the name of John TYLER came here to Maryland from VA. If anyone can be of help please feel free to email me. I would love to share information!

LARMORE posted by Bob Smith on Friday, June 29, 2001

I found a Somerset Co. will dating from 1796 on a Elijah LARMORE with James LARMORE as Administrator. The other names are Esau, Jacob, Catherine, William, another Elijah, John, Lucy, Labin, and Rachel. These are names in my family. They moved from Somerset between 1810 and 1820 to Dearborn Co., Indiana. My g-g-g-grandfather Jacob LARMORE was born in Maryland in 1799. In 1820 in Indiana there are 2 Jacobs living side by side and the ages are right. I am trying to tie the Jacob that is in the will to my Jacob in Indiana. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

JARRETT, LARMORE posted by Bob Smith on Thursday, August 16, 2001

I was looking for some info on the 1813 marriage of Jacob LARMORE (b.1771) and Comfort JARRETT (b. 1797-1805) in Somerset County Maryland. I believe this is Jacob's second marriage and he already had children by a previous wife. They went to Indiana in 1820, where they lived by my ggg-grandfather (also named Jacob, b. 1797 in Maryland). He married my ggg-grandmother Elenor Brant in 1823 in Indiana. I believe this older Jacob is my Jacob's father but I haven't any proof. Thanks for taking your time.

WATSON posted by Curt Watson on Thursday, August 23, 2001

James and son Preson WATSON came to Eliz City Co., VA abt 1820. Relatives say they came from Jamestown, NY, but I believe it is Jamestown, Somerset, MD. Preson W. spent $1,600 cash for two plots of land in Eliz City in 1826. I have no info on these folks before 1822 tax records, and there may be a Philadelphia, PA connection. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

CARROLL posted by Thomas Carroll Propes on Sunday, September 2, 2001

Looking for ancestors of Gov. Thomas King CARROLL, born April 29, 1793 at Kingston Hall. His father was Henry James Carroll, mother was Elizabeth Barnes King. I am a direct decendent of Thomas King Carroll but cannot locate any links to Carrolls other than his father Henry. Any any genealogy linking other Carrolls would be helpful.

BEAUCHAMP, ELLIOTT posted by Yvonne Anne Prascus on Wednesday, September 5, 2001

Looking for BEAUCHAMP/ ELLIOTT lineage? Father was William Raymond BEAUCHAMP, mother's maiden name is Eva Bly. I'm very new to this, and need as much help as I can get please! I know some of my mother's information. Father: Leonard ELLIOTT, mother: Paddy or Patty Pitcher on Solomon's Island, MD. I think my grandfather's name was Charles BEAUCHAMP. Married a couple of times. Need to know my father's mother's name. My father claimed that she was Pennsylvania Dutch or German/Dutch and that my great grandmother (whatever her name was) was from the Quaker religion. My grandfather was supposed to be French/Canadian and Indian I think?

GARRETTSON, WATERS posted by George W. Garrettson on Thursday, September 6, 2001

"Freeborn GARRETTSON, Jr. married Elizabeth H. WATERS of Somerset County, Maryland, October 8, 1823." (from "American Methodist Pioneer" by R. D. Simpson). Can anyone direct me to the parents and/or siblings of the Elizabeth H. Waters in the above reference?

STRAWBRIDGE posted by Dianne Strawbridge Aikman on Saturday, September 29, 2001

Looking for any info on William STRAWBRIDGE (my 4th great grandfather). William was born about 1755 in an unknown place, lived in Maryland and then lived out the latter part of his life in Pitt/Martin Co., N.C. I have lineage on William from 1785 to present but am having trouble finding his roots. I found William, James, and Elijah Strawbrige in various N.C. records (same counties), but do not know their relationship. It is family lore that we came from Eastern Shore MD originally. In "Settlers of Maryland 1701-1765 (3 books)" in the Tracts/Acreage section, I found: James Strawbridge, Somerset County, 100 acres (Tract: Bluff Hammocks), 7/10/1725 James Strawbridge, Somerset Co., 100 acres (Tract:Conveniency), 7/10/1725 James Strawbridge, Somerset Co., 60 acres (Tract:Ridge), 2/24/1729 James Strawbridge, Somerset Co., 82 acres (Tract: Addition), 8/3/1732 William Strawbridge, Somerset Co., 54 acres (Tract: Dublin), 7/19/1759. It is interesting that his Tract was called Dublin. From info in the foreward in the book, he may have named his Tract after his hometown in the old country. I believe it possible that this William is my ancestor. If anyone can help at all, I would greatly appreciate it.
