Michael BurdgeWed, 24 Mar 1999 00:52:09 -0500 Perhaps someone can provide info on naming patterns. Seems I remember somewhere that many sons wer named Johann and were known by their "second" name. Thus Johann Jacob BRANDENBURG would have been known as Jacob. Is this accurate? I have been looking for parents of Samuel BRANDENBURG, b. 1814 Frederick Co, Md. Church record at Middletown Reformed indicates that Samuel's father was Jacob. (So does another source.) However, I have had no luck in finding the right Jacob. I did run across a Johann Jacob BRANDENBURG which is in the right time frame, and for which I have not seen any info. Is it possible that this Johann Jacob could be the Jacob I am looking for? That is, would above theory on naming patterns keep this option open? Mick
