Jacob Dean Born 7/18/1785 (1795?). Died 6/8/1880. Married to Eliza Lovell (1794-1879). Jacob was in the War of 1812. The picture of Eliza is from the Harlansburg Unity Baptist Chruch centennial book of 1908. Some information from the "Elder, Hogue, Bryan" book by Robert Ashley Stevenson.

Zechariahs's will is in vol 2, page 104, Lawrence County Court House written 10/26/1857, probated 4/21/1862. His will lists 11 children and two grandsons named Zechariah. Zechariah settled three miles north of New Castle, on the New Castle - Mercer Road, but moved the next year (1818) to a farm near Harlansburg. From The History of Lawrence County, Pa. dated 1877, p.106: On the farm now belonging to the heirs of Zacharia Dean, a cabin was built and a small clearing made previous to 1815. That year Mr. Dean came from Huntingdon and settled on the place, having purchased a two-hundred-acre tract. The man who had made the improvements left before Mr. Dean came on, as he of course had no claim. Dean was originally from the State of Maryland. Jacob Dean came the next year, 1816, and located on a portion of the above tract about five years afterwards.

Jacob Dean Born 3/3/1747. Migrated from Maryland to Huntingdon, PA, later to Scott Twp, Lawrence Co, near what is now Harlansburg. He married Nancy Lovell.

Enoch Dean was the miller at what was later known as Kennedy's Mill on the Slippery Rock Creek a couple miles from Harlansburg, up stream a few miles from McConnell's Mill (now a state park). Enoch had the mill after Mr. Fox, but died Feb. 5, 1851, after which his wife Jane deeded the property to Hosea Kennedy.

John Dean Immigrated from Ireland; his wife Susanna West from England. They settled in Maryland.

The record was given Abner Dean by Mrs. Sarah Miller of Huntington, Pa. and was taken from a Bible of the old settlers. David and Joshua enlisted in the Revolutionary Army but never returned, neither were they heard from again; it is believed they were killed. Nothing is known of William or the two daughters, but they remained in Maryland, when Jacob, their brother moved to Huntington, Pa. John, their father died in Maryland and Susanna, his wife, moved and lived with Jacob in Pa. where she died.
